My God, I couldn’t remember what that scene that dialog was from. I finally found it and here you have it posted already. 😂 Golden scene

That’s a creative idea. I would read it. But if the goal is to reach and engage more people, then it needs to appeal to them. Like previously said, most people just don’t seem to care about privacy. So what do they care about? Getting likes/approval from others? Networking? Following popular channels? It’s kind of a catch 22, because celebrities won’t go to a platform without potential followers, and followers won’t either without someone to follow.

I can definitely relate on seeing the potential of the fediverse. I even told some of my friends, “This is the evolution of how the Internet is going to work. Isn’t that exciting??” And I’m usually met with blank stares.

I think the social media giants will slowly continue to become less relevant and there will be a natural shift toward alternatives. The more polished the alternatives become and the more the communities will prove valuable with actual human connections, the more they will slowly appeal to the masses. I think many people are sucked into the world of consumerism and cannot imagine an alternative.

Friendly reminder to include the artist or source

Thanks for the suggestion. I am trying it out now and it seems pretty solid. I’m not sure the customization features are worth a subscription yet for me, but if they end up adding moderator functions, that might make it my new favorite.

Oh snap! I didn’t realize that

I started with Mlem, then Memmy, tried Thunder, Limbo, the Voyager web app. The new Voyager app definitely seems the most polished. I will say though, a new discovery and my primary lately has been Avelon. It is buttery smooth and many options in the settings. One that was missing from Apollo was the “mark above as read” option for posts, which is present on this app.

Definitely give it a try: https://testflight.apple.com/join/IzB0ZiBO

That makes sense. Thanks, I wasn’t aware of that before

That’s what I kind of assumed too, but everything appears to be working

Your submission in "{{post.title}}" was removed for That is pretty funny. This joke would be great for c/unclejokes, but the suggestion of an erection probably shouldn’t go in c/dadjokes. .

No problem. As much as I hate having to rely on G products, the image search usually finds things best

Your submission in "{{post.title}}" was removed for That joke would be better received on c/unclejokes (which is also on lemmy.world).

by Alex Hyner.

I’ve never seen this style before, it’s pretty cool.

I know everyone may be interacting with Lemmy in different ways, but the sidebar mentions the guidelines for the community. From the limited feedback I got, crediting the artists was valued, so I would like to continue that.

I know it is not as convenient to search, but the artist or source took the time to create or capture the image you are enjoying, so we can take 60 seconds to search for their name.

If you run it through Google Images or any other image search and cannot find an artist or source website, you can simply put “artist not found” or something to that extent.

Please let me know if these seems unreasonable or you have a different suggestion. Like many of you folks, I’m adapting the best I can to develop the community environment.

Don’t worry about uploading elsewhere; you can just upload the image with the Lemmy post and keep it simple.

It looks like some of the images were only available in the native resolution after clicking the hosting link (eg Post Image), which is an extra step for sharing. We can worry about hosting space later if that actually becomes an issue.

Let me know if you guys have other suggestions.

Please leave feedback either here or on GitHub.

Note this is very much a work in progress still and this is very barebones. I plan to continue work and submit nightly builds on TestFlight, so be on the lookout for the new releases.

Happy scrolling!

I want to help make this Lemmy community the way you all want it to be. Please tell me what you think:

Do you want certain rules more enforced? Do you want resolution in the title? Do you care about the source/artist? Would you rather just upload the image to Lemmy in the post and see if we soak up too much hosting space? What do you guys think of having a day we share whole albums? What about a weekly challenge to post wallpapers using a random word generator to give us a two-word theme?

I have two communities moderated but neither response to the three dots button for "more" options for moderating, such as Lock, Sticky, Remove, Ban, and Appoint. Is this an option that is possibly disabled for this instance, or is it just an error?

I have tried multiple mobile and desktop browsers with ad-blocking and every privacy feature disabled, with no change. Anyone have a suggestion?
