We're honestly just kind of stuck in the track we're in. With the current state of affairs we need billionaires who are okay with being taxed to send sufficient amounts of money into campaigns and fight off corporate entities on our behalf to no benefit of their own. Back in the Nixon and Reagan days we had a chance to have voices heard and run protests and stamp out some of the corruption but we're well past that now.
We need to put laws in place to stop the propaganda engines into wrest power from the oligarchs. But even the left doesn't truly want all that to happen.

Hitting the X in Windows and hitting the X in Linux both cause the application to start a save yourself routine. From the OS standpoint they're not far off.
The problem is we have a lot of confirmation bias in windows because every time we want to close an application that's not working, that save yourself call has to sit around for a hellaciously long time out followed by a telemetry call so that Microsoft can track that it happened.
It's pretty rare that Linux apps don't just close.

My friend bought an old BMW and was taking it to the dealer for maintenance.
Every oil change there was some overpriced small thing wrong that he had to pay for and then adding insult injury at the end they would charge him serious amounts of money for fluid top off. The amount they charged him for windshield washer fluid was enough to buy about five containers of windshield washer fluid. So tired of these antics he went out and he filled the windshield washer fluid 100% to the top there was no air in the jug whatsoever. He took it in for an oil change, they charged him for a windshield washer top off. He demanded the service manager and said that he had topped it off to the very top and there's no way they added even a teaspoon of windshield washer fluid to it. The service manager refused to take the windshield washer fill off the bill and said they'd give him a credit for the next time he needed windshield washer fluid.
He never went back.
