I've switched to duck duck go and I'm working on leaving Gmail, but damn it's taking a while to update my email address everywhere, hoping after couple of months I won't have any Google products left in my name.

Dredge. Should be a perfect Deck on the sofa after work kinda game.

Totally agree, barely go on YouTube anymore because garbage videos are being pushed in my face, and hate browsing channels because of Shorts, and all the same sponsor segments everyone has, just boring.

Frigate is amazing, that's what I'd recommend. I'm using a 5MP Amcrest camera, works very well. The dev doesn't recommend Reolink.

Floss and electric toothbrush, brush twice a day, works wonders. One of those brushes that make sure you brush each quarter for 30 seconds for a total of 2 minutes.

Nice, just learned about this, now I know where I'll get my next domains, been using Namecheap.

Yeah think this will be the way I'll do it, thanks.

I've been using Hetzner for some time, but now I want to host everything myself at home.

DNS was easy with Hetzner, just point the domain to Hetzner's nameservers, and from there to my server.

How are people doing this for home servers? When there's not access to something like Hetzner's nameservers.

Is there a free/cheap nameserver I can use to point at my home server's IP?

Yeah definitely noticed that, just feels heavy and clunky clicking on anything, but I'm using Firefox so that probably doesn't help, Google not being the biggest fan.

I only hang out here, been spending way less time browsing online, which I'd say is a good thing. Been playing more video games, and even reading.

Also I'm curious about Discord, when people say they hang out there, do they just find a channel they like and keep up with the chat all day?

So what are people doing to get access to private trackers? Getting sick of this, cancelled all my streaming services that kept raising prices and set up Jellyfin on my old laptop.

Dave the diver, casual enough to play just before going to sleep.

Listening to that right now, crazy stuff, like Microsoft throwing Dev kits away at the dump.

I've been looking for more podcasts since I started going on daily walks.

Mine are:

  • Conan O'Brien needs a friend
  • Wolf and owl
  • Off menu

Trying to de-google and looking for an alternative to Gmail.

Don't mind if it's a paid service if it's robust.

I really like Liftoff, has everything I need, plus open source.

The only thing bugging me at the moment is the bold text everywhere. The headers are bold and the titles are bold. Just not very easy on the eyes to scroll through.

Just wish I could change to non bold text, just like I can change the text size.

There were also 2 more below that.

And this must be a bot, endless posts by this user, every time the same content on multiple communities.

The record-breaking UK heat experienced in 2022 will be regarded as a cool year by the end of this century, the Met Office says.

I like making videos from family holidays and events and such, and I obviously don't want to put that on YouTube.

So I'd like to host something to upload these videos to, and then share links with family.

Is PeerTube the thing for this?

Looking for something lightweight and not too complicated.

Lemmy vs. Kbin? (meganice.online)

Have you tried both? Which one do you like more?

In my profile settings I've got "Interface Language" set to "English", but every time I comment I have to select a language, otherwise it won't post the comment (and there is no feedback saying it's the language that's causing it not to post).

I've been going to different servers and finding communities to subscribe to. But that's quite slow if I'm looking for something specific and don't know what server it's on. Also quite a few duplicates.
