Look maybe they'll go the Canadian way of reeducation and integration instead. That works super well I'm told. I'm also told it definitely doesn't count as genocide so they'll be all clear. Great plan.

Happens in Canada too, only we actually have multiple parties. but the left sides tend to split the vote more whereas the right manages to have less splintering and usually will back one of the major conservative parties. It sucks honestly but I'm okay with it because at least I don't feel my vote is wasted when I vote for an alternative.
Isn't there something about the president having to be American born too? Keanu was born in Lebanon and is Canadian. I think he probably has dual citizenship with the states but it sounds complicated....

I generally agree with your points on not wanting to create echo chambers; however, another reason for temporarily banning the topic imo is not just to block people talking about it but also to protect people who are already hurting, grieving, and generally just trying to find some sort of escape at the moment. Creating a space that will guarantee a temporary escape is nice, I think.

Similar situation but I was at a work event sitting next to a colleague I didn't know very well. We work in IT so our boss had placed a bunch of fidget toys at each table. After maybe 10 minutes of us being there, she grabbed one and said "here, you need this".
It did actually help me that day and now I just carry one with me or else just stim with my jewelry, which I hadn't noticed is something I do until that day.
One thing that has helped me the teensiest bit is that even though he got the popular vote, he still got less votes than he did in 2020. It doesn't help me to know that so many people were blatantly apathetic or misogynistic or whatever we're blaming the lack of democratic votes on, but at least he got less votes than before.
