Have you looked into a dental appliance? I used to use one of those, it would shift my lower jaw forward to help me breathe.

It's not perfect, but if CPAP doesn't work for you, it might be an option. Maybe something to talk about with your sleep doc

Idk, how far is that in "freedom units"? Probably fine, the bigots are too far away to get mad at me.

I was surprised that no one posted this yet:

Yeah, basically you'd have to cut those figures down to 1/4 of what they are before I'd consider them reasonable.

I do agree with you in principle -- if the organizer is feeding everyone, it's only decent to pitch in a few bucks to cover the groceries.

I bet you could get a lot of users if you reached out to some choirs. They might split between signing up for your instance and yellowlemmy.com, though 😂

Looking at the post, it's $345 for commuters -- or about $70 per meal.

For people staying in the accommodations, it's about $210 per night.

Overall, that seems expensive for a camping trip on Meetup.

I am not sure arguing all the edge cases does anything but muddy the water.

Eh, fair. Still, I was curious what you'd say about some of those edge cases.

I would argue that the way housing is working right now

Well, that's the problem, isn't it? Housing isn't working right now for way too many people. :(

Personally, I have very different opinions on "in an ideal world, here's a sketch of how humane housing might look" and "in today's dystopian hellscape, these are the worst of the worst"

difference between a hotel and a home. They are prima facie not the same thing

Hey, not so fast. It's easy to say that glibly, but the lines get kinda blurry when you consider long-term hotel stays and short-term rentals. What's really the key difference between the apartment and the hotel when you're staying at the former for a week at a time or the latter for a 3-month stint?

I'm not saying the Venn diagram is a circle, mind you, just that there's definitely some overlap.

What about condos? Is there something that prevents converting all apartment buildings and having owner-occupants instead of tenants?
