I'm so grateful to the overlords who grant me employment and force me into the office to sit on Teams calls with India, all so I can experience the pure joy of extensive train delays!

Businesses should just factor merchant fees into sticker price much the same way they would (should?) be factoring in the cost of carrying cash, as consumers we wouldn't even notice. And yes, cash does have a cost (time taken traveling to/from the bank or ATM, risk of loss or theft on the way etc).

Don't pay bank account fees as an individual, please.. there are so many ways to get free banking.

Many people at my workplace are saying similar, "it's not that bad, what's the fuss" etc. The point is you can just as easily ask employers "what's the fuss?" when they whinge and moan about their empty offices. I'm yet to see a real argument beyond "we believe face-to-face time increases collaboration and innovation" as though that means anything.

On the other hand, 3 years WFH and we continued to post record profits year after year, just like before the pandemic, just like we undoubtedly will after... it makes no difference... just let people work from wherever they want. I do agree with your sentiment about having agreed home and office days (hybrid working is not flexible).

Let's go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for this all to blow over.

Many of the higher FiT will have some form of cap, only applying to the first 10 or 20ish kW/h exported or maximum inverter capacity, so take that into account. Unless you can self-consume almost all of your generation those plans may not work out too well despite the high advertised FiT. I installed a 10kW system and have reached over 70 kW/h daily export in summer so you can see how the actual average FiT can end up much lower.

I found Powershop to be a pretty good option (was 13c, now 12c FiT, max 10kW inverter capacity but no export cap as far as I can tell), but you do need to run the numbers on the import rates vs your consumption habits to see if it's worthwhile.

More urban sprawl with inadequate infrastructure and a bit of koala genocide on the side. Brings a tear to the eye.
