Being able to control 4 seats is so valuable to RBR that I can't imagine anyone offering an amount that RB finds suitable. I think the sister team is here for the long haul.

Yep! My sentiments exactly. My favorite app is back and I couldn't be more thankful. Sync was that missing puzzle piece that has completed the Lemmy experience for me. The rest is just gonna be gravy now!
Lemmying from Sync right now and it brings a tear to my eye. I don't think anything other than Sync would have made Lemmy feel "right" to me. And now it does.

The argument is that blue states make more money and pay more taxes. Those taxes are then used to prop up red states' economy. But that said, based on what I've researched in the last 10 minutes, it appears to be more of a mixed bag than I thought and the answer as to which "side" is more dependent on federal funding is murky. This is the best resource I've found that breaks it all down.
Personally, I don't even want Lemmy/kbin to become Reddit 2.0.
Reddit from 10 years ago is the goal for me. Reddit has become far, far too bloated for its own good, and that line was crossed a long time ago IMO. Let's just enjoy what we have. Let all the normies stay on Reddit, the people I wanna vibe with are here already.
I think it'll be significant, but it won't be an exodus. I can see a solid ~5-6% of Redditors leaving at once, then a small steady trickle afterwards. 6% would double our current active users.

Fraud is a legitimate concern though. Skimmers are rampant, so I wonder if Oregon will see an uptick in card compromise.
