I think stage manager is a feature that really likes having a larger screen. I have a 12.9" and I plug it into a 27" monitor sometimes, so my use case is probably a bit different than yours. I've never tried it on an 11".
I use my iPad like a little iOS laptop - I'd probably get a 14" version if they made one.
It's a little janky in its current state, and I wouldn't use it on any device that I depend on, but iPadOS 17 is shaping up pretty nicely for window manager improvements in stage manager.

I believe it's coming later, but I'm excited for the Mac version of the game. It plays well on my old Intel iMac, and I bet it would play even better on the newer chips.
