There is a point to be made that C is the foundation to all other languages, and thus being able to write C let's you better understand how other C based languages (which is basically all of them) work.

I personally believe that in a academic sense, C should be your first language. However in a non-professional hobby context start with whatever you feel like.

I've never understood how bagration has been considered operational art. They advanced roughly 10km per day for the same daily casualties as Paschendale (though casualty numbers varies). If any other participant in the second world war would have such a slow advance at such a cost of life it would be considered a strategic disaster. Especially considering the material superiority the Soviets enjoyed at the time.

When did the "Texas will secede" crowd turn into "51st state"?

I've been burned with pre-orders and day-one buys so many times. And now the time I managed to hold of, it had a good and stable release.

I've seen the same video, as long as it has a heat pump then its basically as efficient as we can get it. It's those small drink coolers and portable freezers that can be run of the cigarette lighter in your car that uses the inefficient Peltier module

In Europe tho price off eggs are still stable. Even if they rise I live rural so I know some local egg producers so I'll always have access to cheap eggs.

My local government news. Call me a sheep but since they don't farm clicks they seem to have the most nuanced and engaging stories. For-profit news these days are just doom-posting and rage bait.

In my company I have a serious picture in Teams, however in our internal applications (Jira, etc) I have a picture of rasputin. Over Christmas I used a AI tool to put a santa hat on him and used that as my profile picture

What do you guys think of this new album? I would probably qualify it as dark/industrial folk metal for those who haven't heard it yet. I must say it usually takes me a while to warm up to this kind of music but some of these tracks are bangers straight of the bat. Really enjoy the amount of folk in this album, folk metal tends to turn into power metal but with a violin (not that it's necessarily a bad thing). I also like the variety, the tracks are different enough but not completely disconnected from each other. I would like to know what you're guys impressions are, though do note that this genre isn't for everyone.

Most of the problems in the current internet landscape is caused by the cost of centralized servers. What problems are stopping us from running the fediverse on a peer to peer torrent based network? I would assume latency, but couldn't that be solved by larger pre caching in clients? Of course interaction and authentication should be handled centrally, but media sharing which is the largest strain on servers could be eased by clients sending media between each other. What am I missing? Torrenting seems to be such an elegant solution.

I thought horseshoe theory was disproven but most posts on there could just as well be from far right extremists. It's just contrarianism for the sake of being contrarian.
