I made an account for memes and stuff. Then a more professional account. I'll probably make a porn account at some point, but not while the big porn instances are allowing loli and shit on their instance.

Honestly, for me, Lemmy just feels better than Reddit. It has more content that I am actually interested and community seems better.

I lurked on Reddit. I think I have posted here more in the last 2 weeks than I even did on Reddit

As a new manager currently in the process of writing reviews for my team, writing objective reviews with actionable feedback is really really hard.

I skimmed through your super long message, so might have missed something. Hanlon's razor might apply here. "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by ~~stupidity~~ inexperience.” But definitely go to your skip-level. Your manager is probably worried about their own performance and might be trying to save face or make excuses on why you need to go around him.

my options are either to buy my own laptop and work somewhere else when I need to get work done or make a partition/new user on my desktop that's strictly for work

1000% option 1. You need to have a work space that is only for work and nothing else. Get the laptop and set it up in a room far away from any other devices(TV, desktop, etc).

Replying from Lemmy. 👋 Not the norm over here either. I wonder if there is just some weird sync issue happening?

Lemmy communities have public Mod Logs so even if a thread was removed I don't think it's gone forever.

Same when you pluralize an initialism or acronym. ATMs not ATM's. Unless it is needed for clarity. If you had the acronym "AS" you might choose AS's instead of ASs.

Probably closer to $4 unless you are a very young father(assuming USD)

I was wondering if where the daddit was on Lemmy. Glad I found it.

I have to big hand and little hand it to the documentary team. They really captured every minute detail. I know they worked around the clock to make it happen.

Rust is a very good language but is relatively new on the scene so it has to compete against other languages that fit the same niche(primarily C++) that have been around a lot longer.

Rust has been very popular for hobby projects for a while but it's still pretty rare to see it for larger projects, and you still almost never see it for enterprise projects. So it's cool seeing an app that uses it blow up.

$3/month is a lot just to be able to use a 3rd party app. I don't think many users are going to go for it. And it's not like the developer is making much money off of it, it is all just to pay the new API costs.
