People are really overblowing the price. As other ppl have mentioned, lemmy is less than a fraction of the user base of reddit.
The 4x price increase isn't crazy. Devs need to make a living. I talk to Lj every now and then on Discord. Dude has been scrambling since the Reddit shut down to get out a working product. I really don't think it's price gouging to spend 20$ for an app I'll be using for maybe 30-mins to an hour almost every single day.

I might end up getting a sync ultra subscription but for now I just want to remove ads.
Also.... I feel like I'm a crazy person but I'm not seeing many or any ads in the first place. or maybe I'm just not noticing them as I scroll.

I've never had significant problems with alcohol. But lately, especially as I've not smoking weed for 5 months or so due to job hunt, alcohol has been my crutch at night more than I care to admit.
I've been selected for a position recently (an amazing upgrade from previous employments) and the background check is still processing. Extremely frustrating. Anyways I've been drinking heavily recently. This may not be much for other people, but for me it's too much.
Something like two Four Loko cans or maybe half or more of a fifth of vodka. Most nights for almost two weeks now. And lo and behold when I woke up today I noticed very very mild but still present gynecomastia.
To the eye it seems no different than but I have the mildest feeling of tissue around the nipple area that isn't muscle or fat. Anyways I've had mild gynecomastia in the past and it went away after weight loss and working out.
I do some research and confirm my suspicions that chronic/heavy alcohol intake can lead to hormonal imbalances and gynecomastia in men.
That's all I needed to lose my crutch for the foreseeable future. There's a lot of things I can tolerate in my life, but I cannot have boobs. And hopefully I get this new job and wanna put my best foot forward!!
I do think once I settle into my job and don't have to worry about drug testing, I will smoke weed occasionally. Goal is to just not drink anymore. Maybe for life??? 🤔 Idunno
My nights will be very different from now on. Won't have that quick escape and easy sleep. But at least, my nights won't have alcohol. Hope everyone out there is staying strong in their plans to stop drinking!!
