Then they should be labeled to reflect that.

Unequal bins lead me to wonder if they were cherry picked to tell a specific story. #howToLieWithMaps101

Checks are increasingly a US centric thing. They're almost non existent in Canada, certainly on the personal front, and in Europe the last holdout is France. All they've said is that they're not phasing out checks before 2030, but they 100% are planning on getting rid of them. They're just archaic and far too easy to commit fraud with.

I think the post is literally implying that in previous elections, you absolutely could make the argument that people were being fooled, but that's no longer true. People voting for this guy are doing so not because they've been tricked, but because they want to and are doing so with open eyes.

That website is unfortunately a bit of a joke. It's a good idea on the face of it, but it counts every single promise as the same amount of importance, so creating a new learn to camp program for kids counts the same as overhauling the electoral system.

It also counts the electoral system reform promise as kept, based on the verbiage of the promise, which was a promise to look at doing electoral reform. While that may be what was said, that's not what we were all sold, and definitely counts as a broken promise.

I'm far from a Trudeau supporter, dude did us a dirty by going back on basically every single election promise except legalizing cannabis (i.e. the literal easiest thing to do), but who else do we have? And I'm not talking about just as a liberal leader. Name another halfway decent leader that might be a good option from any party. The last good option I remember is Jack Layton. It's been a revolving door of losers, liars, hypocrites, and outright bigots ever since, and not a single ounce of integrity to be seen.

I can surmise that you've been living under a rock, or have never met an Apple fanboy. Or Tesla. Or SpaceX. Or any number of other companies that people sympathise with.

If Elon is saying that sub-ten micron accuracy is necessary, that tells me that a quarter inch is probably fine.

Mr Burns is, yeah.

I'm not denying what you're saying, I'm saying both are a problem and advocating for not throwing out the baby with the bath water. There must be a way to adjust our system to account for both cases, no? Or would that be objectionable to you somehow?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but this has actually happened. The case I know of, personally, involved a bar owner. He was exonerated after a few years being dragged through the mud, but he ended up having to shut down his bar and move out of town to be left alone. This stuff happens.

Do I have a better alternative? No, it's a complex issue and we definitely don't want to victim blame, but we also don't want to destroy people's lives over just allegations. It's a delicate balance. I think one thing we could do, at very least, is to actually stand by the innocent until proven guilty ideal and not publish the identity of the accused until a verdict comes out. This is the way it is in most of Europe and a "perp walk" happening like it does in the US would free highly illegal.

People, for a whole host of reasons, can be and very much are in different situations than you. Some have very little defense against such allegations, and so it should not be very difficult to understand that they could have their lives destroyed in an instant by false accusations.

For instance, if they engage in non-normalized sexual relations (for their area or country, obviously), be that interracial, same sex, BDSM, etc., particularly if they are not "out". It's very easy to go from "he tied me up and we had a great time", to "that guy did me wrong somehow so now I'm going to press charges and claim he tied me up against my will and raped me". If you don't think this happens you're living in a dream land.
