Because the entire western world are essentially corporate owned plutocracies masquerading as "democracies".

In capitalism you vote with your wallet. The individuals with the greatest wealth, and those who control the wealthiest corporations, get the most votes. It's as simple as that. Sure intelligence, social dynamics, and psychology play a part, but nothing plays as bigger part as capital. Democracy can't exist with massive wealth inequality or individuals/orgs able to buy politicians, parties, or elections (e.g. billionaires).

US politics is a reflection of the US public. Apparently a failed state is the best the US can do in the 21st C...

This is the kind of bold leadership I expect from a corporate owned plutocracy...

America reforming its corporate dictatorship is about as likely as it reforming the British Empire or Confederacy.

So slavey never ended! Cool cool. Totally not a corporate dictatorship masquerading as a democracy...

The sites age restriction popup seems to break Voyager and Firefox. Just redirects back. Try a different browser.

Sometimes VPN DNS blockers can cause similar issues too. Welcome to the modern internet where nothing "just works" and shit "just breaks" because of a dozen layers of corporate fuckery.

Don't worry. The corporate plutocracy guarantees these funds would've never benefited the American people either way.

Organized religion is, fundamentally — at its very core — based on rejecting critical thought; to "just have faith" in the unknown/unknowable.

It is in no way surprising that it's incompatible with advanced science/evidence-based civilization.

The first time I traveled to America, my first thought after a day meeting southerners was "man, these people are dumb as rocks". It was a major tourist destination so I met many Americans of normal intelligence from elsewhere, and the southerners were friendly, but man... the things they chose to talk about, and questions they chose to ask, really solidified how dangerous promoting religion over education is. A democracy can only survive when the average is informed, and conservatisms overall anti-intellectualism — its multi-decade attacks on education — is the #2 predictive variable destroying western democracies (the #1 being religion itself).

Let's just say I've been expecting fascist dictatorship for America for over 2 decades, so Trump/MAGA was expected... Though, even with that expectation, I didn't expect it to be this fucking stupid.

Or perhaps the psychological warfare and disinformation peddled by Musk, AFD, and co actually induces a mental illness in a subset of the population.

Do you mean for crawling I2P sites? I2P clients can't access non-I2P sites...

First comment removed from asklemmy thread about who's good/bad re Israel/Palestine is apparently too nuanced and anti-extremist for snowflake dessalines. Ya gotta fuel the hate and extremism if ya wanna comment round tankie parts...

The linux ban was regarding a comment (pretty sure the OG comment was different) about Russian maintainers being removed from the linux project. Obviously you can't call out capitalist Putin's authoritarian dictatorship in the communist sub, because ML mods are pro-authoritarian and pro-dictatorship; not anti-capitalist... At this point I'm convinced most "tankies" are just PsyOps operatives.

I can't figure out how to view my own reply comment anymore, but a /Ukraine user commented this insanity and I called them out — that cornering a sociopathic nuclear armed dictator is recklessly stupid, and exactly what will trigger a nuclear war — and got massively downvoted for "enabling Russia". 90% of the user base agreed with "conquering" Russia, and thought previous mini incursions across the border are equivalent; proving that nukes are a forever bluff.

The best part? After inspecting several of the mods and users comment histories I realized all seem to have nothing to do with Ukraine whatsoever, and appear to be young pro-war machine North American jarheads (or keyboard warrior wannabes), who sub to or mod numerous other military related communities.

Thus, conservatism and neoliberalism are, in reality, the radical agenda...
