Didn't immigration to Israel increase due to persecution of Jewish people? So if there was no Christ / bible leading to Judaism separating from Christianity, we wouldn't have the resulting anti-semitism that caused Jewish people to return to their biblical homeland and displace the indigenous Palestinians. Honest inquiry.

Don't lose heart. The kids already think Facebook is lame, X killed itself, most folks on the street have heard "if you aren't buying anything you're the product", influencers are as frequently pitied as admired. I see glimmers of the needed changes in these things.

I hear you, though the universe experiencing itself is due for reconsideration after I'm slightly high...

As a not very well-traveled American, I definitely read this as the US and our indigenous peoples. I suppose only the speaker truly knows who they were referencing. Or it's intentionally vague to be relatable...

I feel like the caption doesn't summarize the spirit of the quote. The indigenous folks cooked, told stories, made art, danced, fell in love, made enemies, had sports, and formed various unique cultures. There's a lot of "doing" in a that. For me this reads as you don't need to grind to make other people wealthy and collect a lot of plastic bullshit that Instagram convinced you was necessary for happiness. But like we're all slowly, collectively realizing this right?

Goddammit Becky was a good bearperson. And now I have the Tailspin theme song stuck in my head so thank you x2.

Look up "Becky pumpkin spice flannel" and go to images (seriously I did this in DDG). No shade, as I like these things AND somehow managed to find Lemmy gasp, but those search terms will show you what is being referenced.

Edgelords gonna edge. You like something common and popular? Well I don't because I'm incredibly unique and tragically misunderstood - just like the other thousands of people whose sentiments I echo. Replying makes me a hypocrite, but pondering other's self-imposed misery is a waste of your time. If we magically exterminated these pesky "x" all that pissy emotion would just transfer to the hot new "y". Any reason to complain will do. It's the act itself that releases the cortisol.

Boomers, people who went to Vietnam, people who were in highschool from 1990-1993. Those are my generational distinctions and I truly need no further categorization than this.

As someone who still confuses these "turn it around that way" - jiggles hand in vague motion- "oops no the other way" usually works just fine.

There's no chihuahua sub where we all post numerous daily pictures of our weird little dogs then tell each other in droves how absolutely lovely they are.

Same! My longest endeavor at the moment is getting my orchid to bloom prolifically (3 years), drying the blooms so they maintain their color (2 years) dipping them in epoxy so I 3D eternal blossoms and now I have 12 beautiful hardened orchid flowers I am figuring out what to do with. My husband has the same interest but uses more tech. We figured out how to print and assemble an impossible table to hold my miniature cactus. We both love tinkering for the joy of creatively problem solving.
