Genshin is good in some aspects, but it shows how desensitized we are that we accept the egregious gambling and the endless grind that only exists for the sake of retention. Can Genshin players really talk shit about this when in average it takes around $200 to get one single 5* character? Even if you are not paying that yourself, the game is built that way to exploit those who do.

At least Diablo is easier to quit than games that literally condition players into a gambling addiction. But all this is easier said than done.
Such that laws are created to protect people from scammers? Because that is what really should be done. With the rise of this "buying is not owning' bulshit, it has been a long time coming.
What did they do with the two bags of chips after someone pocketed 39,999,990 dollars?
It was a service, but my point is less how much was paid, but that much of it is dead and gone. A completely free game that shuts down its servers and becomes unplayable is still a loss to our culture.
Depressing how quickly this kind of stuff went from outrageous to completely normal.
I'd say most mods don't even pay attention to people critiquing them
Can't let corporate cogs to-be learn that extenuating circumstances excuse lowered productivity 😒
I just got into Yakuza: Like a Dragon after getting interested on Infinite Wealth. Ichiban is so funny, he definitely has a very different attitude than Kiryu.
These Steam Next Fest Games sound interesting, I'll take a look on them. Happy! the Hippo saying it's "a previously lost game" definitely sounds like they will lean to the creepy side, but hopefully it will be better than Shipwrecked 64, which I felt like overused keypad puzzles.
No Man's Sky can be pretty fun if you get into the progression loop. Got myself a good 100+ hours with it. I really like getting to slowly learn the alien languages.
Finally got to Act 3 of Baldur's Gate 3 while playing in co-op. It's a little overwhelming now, so much stuff every which way.
I also started Yakuza Like a Dragon. Ichiban is just wild, such a different vibe of protagonist compared to Kiryu.
If casinos need to be regulated and strictly scrutinized to prevent children from engaging with them, so should all games that resort to lootboxes. Researchers have made it clear that the psychological effects are identical, and that early engagement with lootboxes tends to lead to issues with gambling.
