That my outlook on it. I bought the pro version in like 2013 for 4 or 5 bucks. Didn't give him a penny again until ultra came out and I got the monthly on that for a grand total of like $20. I can see why it may be a turn off for new users but for me it's just paying back what I already got from LJ.

I think even the free tier allows for original quality but its been years since I was on it. You only get like 15 GB of space though as well.

Self hosted you could use Plex to automatically upload all photos to your computer then download as needed to the other one.
Personally I use Google photos to do this and it works great but will probably require you to get a subscription depending on the size of your library.
My personal phone is android with a work iPhone and I want to transfer things over sometimes so I set up my work phone to upload as well.
I'm currently seeding like 50+ torrents across 2 different private trackers. Have each torrent limited to like 500 connections and I forget what my global is ATM. Only time I ever ran into issues was Hogwarts from a public tracker which was able to saturate my network. Upload like a tb in a week then got an email from my ISP and called that good. Got a 10 ratio on a public tracker which is probably better than 99% of people who use them π
Personally I would use a password manager for at work as well. Bitwarden can generate 8 character passwords. Easy enough to remember and if you forget it's right there on your phone.
Relay isn't file sharing though. It's an email and phone number masking service. I signed up and played with it a bit. Didn't see much use in it til recently and I signed up for the premium. Figure I waste more than that a year on stupid things and this way somewhat supports the browser I enjoy using. π€·ββοΈ
No worries. From what I can see in the forums they approve you for the IP you will using to download everything. If you aren't on that IP then downloads will be blocked. More specifically I think your browser and torrent client must have the same IP but like I said I don't know much about how VPNS work as I've never really used one.
Couple forum posts. The single one is from a moderator and also the person who did my interview to get into the website. That also ended up having to change VPN providers to get someone who would let them stick with a more static IP address.
If you are still interested I'd highly recommend showing up during one of the days they have registration. Can talk to them about it during the interview to get your invite and they would have way more knowledge and information about it.
Lol she actually wants to go watch the movie about child trafficking. Personally I want to drive 3 hours to watch Oppenheimer on 70mm because I didn't know it was even a thing before this movie. Though all imax was created decently equal π
