Get a M.2 ethernet card and put it in where the wifi card was. You don't need wifi if you're gonna use ethernet, and the M,2 ethernet card will have a clip.
People make fun of me when I tell them I am still mad about when ElementaryOS pulled the exact same thing. But I am, I'll never use their product because the people who make it revealed who they truly are. I took note of them and will never use anything they are ever involved with. Now spez is on that list, too.
Kinda depends. I have one that makes an excellent Plex server with an external USB drive for the media. It's ancient, got it for nothing from an school that was going to throw it out, it's got Intel QuickSync so it transcodes media in hardware. I even got the 2TB USB drive for nothing, friend didn't need it any more and was going to throw it out, now it serves him media with the Plex server I built. Did the same with another Chromebook for Pi Hole. Now thinking about a slightly beefier one for Home Assistant. Might set up a Lemmy instance on another one, just for the fuck of it.
Guess everybody's going to either be joining me, or else they'll become tragically misinformed. I wonder which they'll choose...
End of life Chromebooks, baby!
I kinda don't see the problem here. I have all these news sites bookmarked, I scroll through them every day. They will still get my ad revenue if they are not on social media. Doesn't everyone do this? Did everybody but me get lazy and stop using bookmarks?
A lot of this is because the prevalent attitude has been 'it's the internet, it doesn't matter', and that allowed people to do things that we, as a society, decided long ago that people weren't supposed to do.
I bought a SkycropHD off AZ to get 3 HDMI devices to spit out one optical audio. I'm really happy with it, plug and play for my needs and the quality is great. They have a 5-to-1, if it's as good as the one I got, I bet you'll be happy with it, and AZ pretty much always has them on sale.
I'm just waiting for someone to take one of the torrents and create a static pre-reddit with all the old info, and we can all pick up anew here. Host it on Tor, donations to cover server costs, done, and Reddit is out and nothing of value was lost.
I signed up and then went to bed. I'm assuming the world took that as a sign and followed me. Or perhaps I should cut down on the hard drugs, idk
Yeah, that's probably where I'm going. So much of this drama has been good for me, overcoming inertia to move to better things.
I think their strategy with Game Pass is going to take a bit longer to bear fruit. I know, for me, it got me to buy a game console for the first time in twenty years, and I've already bought ~$200 in games that I never would have bought otherwise. Plus I regularly subscribe, that's more revenue for them, that they wouldn't have seen without Game Pass.
