Wait... that song was in 2011?

Dang, dude. I'm getting old. I thought that track was like 3-4 years ago.

Yes... let's make people return to the most EXPENSIVE cities on the planet.

I know like three tech workers who permanently moved to Appalachia, the Ozarks, etc. They ain't coming back. They can get another tech job in 3 days or less. So, they're just going to do that.

This is a GREAT time for smaller companies who've been desperate to hire talent. They will be more than happy to accommodate remote work.

I'm frankly just grateful we haven't broken Lemmy.

What was once a "consolation prize" (Lemmy) is quickly rekindling my joy in this type of a site. I haven't felt this giddy since opening a reddit account in like 2011.

Well, it's time for change. Let's gently educate them. We're not adversaries (we WANT their company to succeed, too!). And it's our job to save them from themselves.

Frame is as: The Boomers are retiring in a "silver tsunami." It's going to be an employee's market for the next few decades.

So, an employer can either:

  • Work with a union to have single point of contact to know how to keep workers happy and sticking around the job. Everyone wins.

  • Crush unions and lose that single point of contact. Then keep wondering, employee by employee what it takes to keep people around. Play whack-a-mole while spending a fortune on re-training and probably end up paying similar wages the union asked for in the first place. Everyone loses.

A union is to the employer's advantage. A union is capitalism's solution to keeping the bottom from revolting and embracing communism. Unions are good. Unions are American.

I hope lemmings sticks. It's cute. It pokes fun at ourselves. It's great.

I should be upset at you, Homer. But I'm just glad that Lemmy is okay.

Instead, we'll have Pie Days....

...except they'll all be on the same day.

There's funny horny (tool to tell a joke) and then there's just horny horny.

And yes, I can do without the second crowd.
