“What’s up Wanda” “Let’s sprint”

The delivery of those two lines are burned into my memory.

Inevitably every movie I’d make in that program would just be 2 characters karate kicking each other and then exploding

Our oldest kid doesn’t believe in the tooth fairy. We didn’t push him to be a skeptic he just is that way. He still wants the money put under his pillow so we oblige in that part of the tradition at least. Our younger two haven’t lost any teeth so don’t how we will handle it for them.

The idea would be the servers would have shared ban/block lists and similar rules so that they can share the load of having open sign ups.

Basically a coop of instances to improve on-boarding. If you join the coop then you get added to the pool of instances that get assigned normies at random.

If the authentication was federated it’d be ideal as well but I assume this would be outside the scope of AP and would cause issues if you tried to post from your mastodon.social account from mastodon.world’s server for instance.

[–] TORFdot0 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The bridges are singular points of failure. If the bridge you use goes down you lose all your audience that was on that bridge. It’s better than nothing however. I will consider normies using threads and Bluesky a win as much as I can but it’d be so more ideal if we just all were on open and truly federated protocols instead of relying on half measures

[–] TORFdot0 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Not really. You can host your own data but you still rely on Bluesky’s services to access it. And there is no realistic way to migrate your content or audience to another platform outside their control

[–] TORFdot0 7 points 1 month ago

57 different 3rd party apps is probably a good start. Mastodon has to be easy to on-board and it isn’t for someone with no technical understanding what domains, servers or instances are. To that group Bluesky makes sense. You are signing up for Bluesky. Try to onboard that group to mastodon and they don’t understand if they are on mastodon.social or mastodon.world or any other instance.

Why would they be on one of those fringe services with less users than bluesky? That’s what a non expert understands

I think you could make an argument of combining the essentials of physics and chemistry into a single year long course but that would include teaching the conservation of energy, periodic table and so on.

But I disagree that people don’t use apply these subjects in your life. I think it’s pretty necessary to be able to estimate distance or be able to engineer repairs at home without having to call a professional or order brand new goods, or for chemistry, be able to clean your home without accidentally making a bomb.

Providers have a market incentive to provide the most convenient experience to their patients. The market incentive does not exist for sending information to other providers so they will take the path of least resistance to be compliant with regulation

[–] TORFdot0 34 points 1 month ago (12 children)

Ok don’t make it mandatory but then what would you be teaching instead? These are all like the basic building blocks of chemistry and geometry. You just aren’t gonna teach kids those subjects then?

[–] TORFdot0 3 points 1 month ago

You can self host your data but you have to rely on the main Bluesky servers as a relay. It’s still centralized. Using other relays will be too expensive to be feasible

[–] TORFdot0 5 points 1 month ago

Bluesky is less ideal as ATProto isn’t really feasible to use without relying on their relays. Thankfully there are bridges but the most ideal solution would be for ATProto and AP to be able to federate directly

It’s also in line with 2012 and 2016 participation levels for Dems. It seems like the GOP have a reliable voting base while dems need a pandemic or a monumental candidate like Obama to bother showing up to the polls.

Thank you to everyone who showed up for the draft! We have 7 teams in the league and one team that auto drafted and is still available. Message me if you want to claim it. In the mean time I will manage it by setting the highest projected lineup and only making waiver claims if I can’t fill the starting lineup due to injury or bye weeks. Season starts tomorrow! Good luck everyone!

That team’s roster is as follows-

J Herbert

T Etienne

D Pierce

J Jefferson

C Kupp (auto draft didn’t get the memo I guess)

K Pitts

G Wilson

49er D

G Gano

De Hopkins

DJ Moore

D Watson

T Lawerence

K Herbert

A Gibson

Q Johnston

Hey guys. Just updating everyone that I have the draft scheduled for Sunday at 7pm. We have 4 people signed up but it was as high as 6 at one point before we had a couple people drop out. If we can get it back up to 6, I can have my brother and a friend who are not on Lemmy manage a couple teams on a temporary basis or we can just disband the league and wait to see if we have more interest next season.

Let me know how you feel in the comments.

Thanks to @TheDaveAbides @TheGreyt and @MooDib for signing up so far

Hey everyone. Just a reminder that we need 5 more people to sign up for the fantasy league. The draft has been scheduled for tonight at 7 Eastern. If you miss the draft you can still sign up and nab one of the auto drafted teams.

Are the 7 who have shown interest so far. Go ahead and sign up using the link. If you aren't on this list fill free to sign up too. I have a max of 12 slots so openings will be first come, first serve. Please try to incorporate you username into your team name somehow so I can tell who is who. Be sure to get your draft queue set up. We are drafting August 27th 7pm Eastern so if you can't make it, you can at least have your queue set up for autodraft.

Settings are (up to) 12 teams. Half PPR, ESPN standard scoring. 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX, 1 DST, 1 K. I look forward to having a good season everyone!

I really want to get the PSVR2 but there seems to be a lack of titles for it. Arizona Sunshine 2 has me interested. But I’d really like to play Skyrim VR, the last time I played that was on the original oculus headset. Other than that a pretty cool tech demo for Horizon and Gran Turismo but that’s it.

If they could backport PSVR2 to work with if Skyrim be was available on PSVR2 even just the ps4 version, it would be enough to justify the set up for me.

What other games do you really want to come to PSVR2?

So as things stands we have 7 people interested in participating this season. I am scheduling the draft for August 27th 7pm Eastern time.

My plan is to set up a league on either ESPN or Yahoo. The roster will be 1QB, 2WR, 2RB, 1TE, 1 FLEX, 1 DST, and 1K. 4pt passing TD, .5 PPR. Default scoring for everything else.

We’ll plan on 8 teams unless we get more interest prior to the draft. If we have an odd number of teams I’ll have my brother (who isn’t on Lemmy) manage a team until someone on this sub is interested in taking over the team.

Let me know what your platform preferences are and if you have an idea for a league name. (Right now I’m leaning on [email protected] Legends, but I’m all for a more creative league name)

I’ll get the league set up on Wednesday and make another post with a league constitution and an invite by Wednesday so everyone has time to set up their team and draft queue. It will be just a regular snake draft so make sure you set up that queue in case you miss the draft. If anyone misses sign ups before the draft teams we will autodraft for the missing player. If there are multiple missing teams, players can pick their team from the autodrafted teams on a first come, first serve basis.

That’s all I got for now. Thanks for agreeing to participate everyone. Please post your preferences on platform and questions in the comments below

I follow a few hashtags and occasionally I get posts that aren’t in English on my feed. It’s not that big of deal but it’s be nice if there was a way to ignore posts that aren’t in my set language or a way to auto translate them since I only speak English. I’ve been using the official mastodon app and it can give me the option to translate posts so there’s got a way to just auto translate, right?

Zeke Elliott’s one-year deal with the Patriots includes a $3 million base salary, a $1 million signing bonus and can be worth up to $6 million with incentives.
