I had an issue with it on nvidia. no matter what I did I couldnt get fps above my screens refresh rate despite vsync being off in game, it was being forced by xwayland. I dont have the same issue with my AMD card though.
TONKAHANAH
meh. i block ads, they dont get much from me. im certainly using it less though
neat. network co-op would be nice to see but couch co-op is a dying breed so cool to see that too
yup. good luck
Do people still play call of duty?
Surprise! Awful shit happens every day and you don't hear about even 2% of it.
Thing is, I use Linux cuz it allows to have simplicity and convenience where those things are of value to me.
Not having an online always connected local user account is simplicity to me.
Having file permissions changeable with a simple command rather than having to fuck about a ui and registry is simplicity to me.
Having an os that's under my control is convenient for me.
Having a user interface that suits my wants/needs and has ample options for customization is convenient for me.
not THAT MUCH determination..
nice. I've personally been more of a Boost user my self so was a bit disappointed to hear the dev was not planning to port or support lemmy which I understand. so far jerboa has been decent but I'll keep an eye out for others.
I'm getting /r/animemes flashbacks
I just keep stuff until its not useful for anything i could be doing with it any more. I have few extra computers kick'n around that can still play some of the games every one is playing for extra lan systems or as a backup in case my main rig kicks the bucket.
i have a bunch of laptops kick'n around that are kinda old and really need to be disposed of, i'll probably just take them to a recycle place when ever I get around to it
since I switched to an AMD card i've been running wayland exclusively and only have so much x11 bits installed as xwayland and kde demand.
x11, at least with kde, has always felt kinda.. idk, not unstable, but kinda always felt like it was held together with packing tape and chewing gum, like fuck'n with the settings or widgets will just throw it out of wack, it always felt like there was a small amount of jank all the time.
but on wayland, something about it feels more streamlined and smooth. Im not quite sure how to describe it.
I'd just check all the programs you want/need to run. I'd argue wayland is better for games now with gamescope support but there are some things that just dont work with wayland at all. I think teamviewer doesnt (or didnt last I checked), i think OBS still has some issues as well as discord streaming. various things.
but if all you're doing is games and web browsing, wayland has been very kind to me for that.
if you're running an nvidia card, I'd probably just go x11 still unless you plan on using gnome which I think wayland+nvidia works a bit better there.
