It covers a whole lot of things. If you could be bothered to read, which i know is a struggle for you, you'd see it covers a lot of stuff and isn't one concise policy.

I wish they just linked the actual rankings rather than just writing it up. Because, for instance, they point out incarceration for violent and property crimes as a mark against Texas. Is it really against any valuable definition of personal freedom that you can't murder, rape, and steal with impunity? And the article doesn't bring up guns whatsoever. I would find it strange if that wasn't included at all.

Overall, I usually just find indexes like this to be pretty worthless since they're never all that transparent about exactly what influences the outcome, and how much. They should be able to back up each and every score with specific legislation that influenced it, and exactly how much (and why) it impacted the overall score.

Almost like there's some middle ground to be had. Not at the absolute center of everything, but still within reasonable proximity.
