[–] Road_Warrior_10 5 points 2 days ago

It looks better, can't argue with the community

Wow, Thank you! :) I'm gonna be honest - the first time I played Portal I totally missed the cube. I mean I did the room but didn't really register that it is different and I'm supposed to attach to it lol . I get it on further re-plays and I love how GladOS manipulates you with it.

Thank you! I love it too :)

Thank you so much! :) I'm hoping most players will : )

Original post here I asked this wonderful community to help me out and select neck tie or bow tie version. This little plush duckie in parts is inspired by The Companion Cube in Portal. The idea is that the player should steal it from The Narrator of my and form an emotional attachment to i. Do you like the new design? : )

Also if you want to support small indie devs like me and like narrative games like Title Pending and The Stanley Parable, please consider a wishlist for Do Not Press The Button (Or You'll Delete The Multiverse)

Thank you for participating in its development!

Thanks, guess I have to change it now

The opinion of players such as you are also valuable, so thank you : )

Interesting idea I will try to explore it. Not sure how to randomize assets tho but probably there is a way : )

Thank you! Finally someone that likes the neck tie!

Hah, might be too much, but It seems that most people like the bow tie better.

So I'm re-doing some of my Do Not Press The Button (Or You'll Delete The Multiverse) character models and I have this duck that is kind of inspired by the Companion Cube in Portal. I want to make it as appealing as possible so the players will attach to it and carry it around with them. Which looks better! I'm more partial to the neck tie (because I like wearing them) but what do you guys think?

(If you want to follow how development of the game is going, a simple wishlist on Steam will be well appreciated STEAM )

Hey today I wanted to show something amazing from the Stanley Parable-inspired game I'm developing. Might be a long read so bare with me: at the end of my demo The Narrator is annoyed that the player presses The Button (in a game called Do Not Press The Button)! So he demands the player to send a 500 word essay on why they shouldn't press it. I put this line in as a joke and didn't expect to get anything, but funnily enough I've gotten so much essays which you can see here in the video and I decided as an Easter Egg to put a secret room in the FULL GAME where people can actually read all of essays that was sent and I'm sure there are a lot of Lemmy people that have sent one. In the video you can see small example of what people have written! It's just awesome and makes me smile!

P.S. If you want to support my work and encourage development a simple wishlist of the game on Steam will make my day!

P.S. It was so funny to see someone playing the demo on their Stream and after they finished it, they opened a text file and started writing the essay, and you see new viewers coming in, expecting gameplay or something, and she is like "Oh, I'm doing my homework that this game gave me" :D

Buy it!

For context: I’ve been working on the game for almost 19 months now and for a very long time it had a low wishlist count. As I started updating the Steam page with new images and gifs and posting about it regularly the people who were interested in the game grew. Today I woke up to check on Steamworks and it turns out it’s 7000+ wishlist! (It was around 300 for the first YEAR of development).

But here is the thing, I’m not one of those guys who quits their job to pursue gamedev. You see posts like these all the time, I’m not even sure if most of them are even real, but I feel that is a HUGE risk. One I’m not willing to take, as I can’t afford to go two years without pay. A safer thing to do is to do gamedev on the side. But the amount of work you have to do is pretty much like having a second job. I think that if you treat it as hobby you will never get there. So I started treating my free time as a currency and trying to optimize how I spend it. Currently most of it is spent on game dev. Haven’t seen any of my friends for a few months now. And haven’t even turned on the PS4 in the living room since September. I only have time to play some classic games at nights on the weekend. Funny story but the other week at 2 A.M. I was staying late, with just the laptop in the dark and my girlfriend comes in and asks what the hell am I doing in the dark. I was actually playing Splinter Cell, and she looks at my screen and there it was Sam Fisher holding a terrorist at gun point.

One thing I refuse to compromise with is diet and workouts. I try to cook my own food and have only home made meals. I plan for each week so I save time when eating. Something I’ve found out is that it’s pointless to over exhaust yourself with no sleep and shitty diet. In the end you are not in a better state to be creative and as your well being suffers, your game suffers to. So I just work on my job during the day, and then from 18:00 to 23:00 I switch to my game. Somehow I squeeze in there 3 dog walks, 2 meals and a dinner with the wifu.

After almost two years, I’m wrecked. Will do it again tho. I have two cool ideas for other games and I really want to see happen (one is kind of a Psychological Thriller, the other is a Cozy Game).

P. S. Thank you if you have wishlisted it already and if not, please consider doing so : )
