It was fun, wasn’t it.

I have been using Memmy (IOS) and it’s so much better than the Reddit app.

I have been using Memmy (TestFlight) since the beginning and love the app. Thanks for the recent updates it has been very stable, especially around image handling!

One thing I can’t seem to find anymore is a way to block communities. I swear it used to be there but I can’t find it anymore. Is this feature coming back or did something change on the Lemmy side?

I live in the Cape Fear area of North Carolina and we are dealing with this. Chemors, the maker of Teflon, has been dumping PFAS in our water.

My town recently built a reverse osmosis water treatment plant. It is the only way to get it out of the water. Traditional water filters don’t work.

Memmy is Apollo like but only available for IOS for now.

I have been in IT for 30 years. This has been a recurring theme for at least 20 of those years. It has gone by different names but the idea hasn’t changed. Web technology has come a long way but there are too many developers still writing traditional apps to kill the OS completely. While new greenfield apps may be web first, most of the corporate world is running on legacy apps that are tied to the OS.

The article points out that the strength of the Fediverse is also it’s downside. Federated moderation makes it challenging to consistently moderate CSAM.

We have seen it even here with the challenges of Lemmynsfw. In fact they have taken a stance that CSAM like images with of age models made to look underage is fine as long as there is some dodgy ‘age verification’

The idea is that abusive instances would get defederated, but I think we are going to find that inadequate to keep up without some sort of centralized reporting escalation and ai auto screening.

Guess they shouldn't have trained it on Common Core... /s

I will see myself out.

Reports coming in now that at least one span has collapsed, and that another is damaged.

I also have a friend who is wondering how much a Reddit account sells for…

A few have tried…

Kodak did this a few years but the big printer companies slashed prices in the printers to next to nothing. Kodaks $200 printer with cheap ink, huge cartridges, and no chips didn’t sell well when Canon would have a similar printer (scan, print, etc) for $49 next to it. Consumers are dumb.

Brother’s eco tank is close… but if they are killing that off in the name of ink selling greed as this meme suggests…

I ran into it somewhere and thought it was !dadjoke material based on the pun, no political opinions intended. I grew up on a cattle farm so I know where the cows come from.

I assume it comes from newly federated people browsing All and not realizing this is !dadjokes. Or maybe just people who hate a good pun joke.

Its ok because the shit gets washed off of the hide before it gets turned into the leather for the seats in my new car.

This is !dadjokes, this is a pun joke, no political message about the food you decide to eat or not yet intended.

While being feral had its own pitfalls, I think most of us ended up with life coping skills they the generations after us seem to be lacking.

I had no idea…. (self.lemmyshitpost)

How much furry porn existed before Lemmy. I knew it was out there and I know all of the memes about furries, but I always assumed it was a rare subculture that was mostly known about for how strange it is to most people.

I am not gonna kink shame. You do you king (or do I call you lion?) Enjoy whatever your desires don’t effect me.

But damn some of you are prolific posters. I usually have my NSFW filter off because I don’t mind an occasional boob in feed, but Lemmy’s unfiltered feed has shown a whole lot of furry porn. I can’t block the communities fast enough, and every hour there is another one getting filled with an image dump.

Rant over, flame me if you want.

I have been using Memmy on Apple for browsing mobile and it is fantastic. But if I happen to be on my desktop and just browse to lemmy.world the experience is a bit underwhelming. Is there a better way to desktop/browser lemmy? (Do we call looking at lemmy the lemmy?)

I was car shopping this weekend and was blown away by the tech features that are available in even moderately priced cars. Adaptive cruise with lane assist, blind spot monitoring, backup cameras, navigation and even reverse automatic breaking. Even base models had quiet smooth rides.

When I bought my last new car 10 years ago, this was only the stuff of luxury brands. So that got me to thinking, what luxury commodities will become affordable in the next 10 years?

Probably not but one can hope… to the Fediverse lemmings!

I chose this username a couple of weeks ago so that in five years I will post something random on Lemmy and look back realizing I haven’t thought about Reddit in a while…
