Anyone aware of Trump's actions on Huawei and how it differs from what Obama or Biden/Harris would do? I recall reading that it was something Dems wouldn't do but something that prevented China from having a monopoly on 5G.

I'm curious if whether, considering this one specific issue, we're in better hands under Trump since he's maybe more likely to consider American interests in not letting the US lose market share or whatever - especially since he might be even more supportive of corporations. That said, he's also capable oflegit letting China straightup have Taiwan, so who knows

I legit hadn't heard of this beloved needle until the strike. lol

Was it heavily shared and cited on twitter or something?

Hasan Poker ain't for everyone but he's super knowledgeable and provides great context for ongoing issues. I mainly watch on YouTube so the clips are edited down and even more context (charts, sources, etc) are added.

I mean, what did you think when you learned that the US was worried about something as basic as surgical/n95 masks during the pandemic because we simply didn't produce any domestically?

Seems absolutely silly not to think your country should have some say in how computer processors are developed. I highly recommend the book Chip War to anyone interested in learning more.

That all said, my understanding is all chip design is dependent on design software entirely owned by US companies - so there's that at least.

I didn't think any of those companies did any manufacturing. Are we talking about the same thing? My understanding was there was only three names in manufacturing (the ones I mentioned)

What do you mean by it would force us not to tiptoe around China?

On that note, what do you think about Trump's policy against Huawei when he was president? I'm inclined to think it's a good thing despite it not being something Obama (or Clinton or Biden/Harris) would do

Is it really a good idea to let Taiwan and Samsung control all semiconductor manufacturing?

What's wrong with being interested in American politics? Why are you being so rude? It looks like their first/only post in this community

To be clear, I don't think most of these folks fully understand the consequences of supporting fascist politicians. My imm. aunt startled me a bit yesterday when said something like democracy means gay people everywhere. I said that's not true and "reminded" her democracy is a system of gov where citizens can vote, one where women weren't previously able to participate in, nor black citizens.

Still, where does that leave us? No fuckin joke, we basically need to stop trying to use facts to reach certain folks. My understanding is that means we need to use emotions/emotional intelligence. How do we do that? Not sure. Many of us had to numb the fuck out to survive what we call American culture, so we're really just barely learning

How do we now make Americans that kinda hate our guts, because of tons of propaganda, that we care about them and want to work with them to improve our nation? Most libs kinda do come off like they hate them, tbf

Idk if that made sense. Kinda stuck rn
