Free hand with an oscillating multi-tool along a rough line, hand sand it to fit flush.

I am starting off the new year by using my discount second hand tools to try and cobble together a nice birthday present for my wife. Materials include water damaged maple, warped walnut, and spider-infested purple heart. Wish me luck.

PG&e owns two massive water reservoirs in the Sierra Nevada Central region called courtright and wishon. They funnel water up and down a steep gradient between shaver lake and the reservoirs to control peak energy demand. It's actually a really effective and mostly efficient system, especially when rain and snow refill the upper reservoirs.

I love the intention, but this is a horrible idea on so many levels.

I got to say I disagree about the pricing thing. I know every business uses this psychological exploit, but to any kind of budget conscious shopper, doing math with round numbers is so so so much better. Like if I'm looking at a case of oil for my car and six bottles is $40, it makes it way easier to figure out the price per liter instead of bullshit like $38.99

Hi I'm an ophthalmologist. The auto refraction is good for a baseline, but the manifest refraction is necessary for the best prescription. Also lots of things can affect the auto refraction like dry eyes, cataracts, and macular degeneration.

You bet you're cold white pasty ass it counts. Now go spear a narwhal or do something cool with it!

Yes, Christmas means finding time to celebrate with friends. It means getting to know people better and giving gifts that they'll actually enjoy. It means baking cookies, burning a few and trying new recipes so you can surprise the neighbors. Christmas, like most of life, is exactly what you choose to make of it. If you hate your family, or Christmas carols or office parties or whatever, then fuck that noise and host a drunken gingerbread house building party with your boys.

This small red Japanese maple is barely hanging on to it's late fall foliage.

This tree has been 3 years in training and it's about 8 years old total. It was created from nursery stock intended as a landscape plant. I'd started by chopping it in half and then splitting the trunk with the help of a friend who taught me how to use raffia.

There is a lot more checking than I realized, and I'm afraid filling these gaps by just pouring in epoxy will be difficult. I want to keep the live edge and avoid making a complete deep pour epoxy mold. Some of these gaps go all the way through The 2-in slab. Any tips for me?
