I've found stretchly to be pretty good. AFAIK it's cross-platform and has a pop-up window for short breaks and longer breaks.

Totally agree, there.

My dream is to build businesses and hire the hell out of America...when thinking about it I really don't care if you champion my brand or not...at the end of the day I'd just want you to get the job done. And if you can't then I'd expect you to reach out for help (I'm talking hypothetically).

So I guess I'm expecting the same from employers. I'll still serve you to the best of my ability. I want your business to succeed because I want you to succeed. It doesn't matter if you sell vacuum cleaners or financial advice.

The past 2-3 years have been rough for me, too. It's only the past week or so that I've been getting additional request for work from existing and new clients. It always feels so odd to be chatting with a founder about my Python experience, then walk to the local food bank to stand in line to get food.

FWIW, keep it up, dude. You're doing alright. I love your vulnerability. I've found it's really hard to find people to help, but I push for it anyway. And I often have to ignore "is this ethical or not?" and allow myself to take full advantage of their help.

This is awesome! Finally someone that understands mental health & privacy! Bravo, @[email protected] ! I'd like to join...but how do I use the link? Sorry--I've been a signal user for a while but haven't joined a group based on a link. My browser said the group didn't exist.

edit: nvm. Didn't work in Firefox, but I tried Brave and it worked.

Totally agree. For the last few decades we've been gleefully giving the government money hoping it'll trickle down to the economy. I guess we are getting a bit of a trickle. More like a tinkle. Like when you get up to pee but your bladder ain't as full as you thought it was.

True, though part of me rushing in is that I'm trying to understand their perspective. I do try to respect boundaries, but I'm not a mind-reader. I guess most people can kind of read boundaries. For me, I need to be told.

Yeah, those "friends" that just vanish are the the most confusing. You spend like 3 days wracking your brain trying to figure out what you might have said to set them off.

But I've found it's better to just move on. If they dumped me because of something I said then they weren't interested in becoming friends in the first place (but by the same token, if they were kind enough to share with me I said something that offended them, I'd change the way I interacted with them).

Dang, that sounds rough. Sorry to hear you went through that. Sounds like you were able to take back power, though! Good job!

Hm...I'll consider this. I 100% believe in self-hosting, but I've had to compromise lately. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yup. Once you're a $5/mo / $10/mo member, then you can profit share.

I've seen that site occasionally. I'll consider it. The only downside is that I already have a medium audience so I"d have to rebuild my audience. But I'll consider it. Thanks.

Oh, no, I don't have to pay to submit articles. I've already published dozens of articles. It's just that in order to participate in profit sharing, you need to become a member: $5/mo or $50/yr.

Yeah. It's been a struggle these past few years. I've been getting creative to find any source of income, but it seems like no matter what I try I always hit a wall. But I found out I have a new contract starting soon (🤞) that will definitely cover costs for a while. This season is critical for me, and I often check my priorities often. Thanks for the encouragement.
