Word of advice: be careful looking for people who want to be a mod. They will tend to be the ones who power trip or abuse their power. It might be better to find those in the community or similar ones who are already involved in said community, and would like to see it grow.

The article has a privacy wall ("this is not a paywall") that wants your email address in exchange for reading the article. Can only read the first 1.5 paragraphs.

I've been using Sync since I made the switch after Reddit closed down 3rd party apps. I signed up to get Boost when they released it but never actually tried it out.

Risk vs reward. I could see reddit swinging either way depending on which they think smells like more money.

Still gotta work all weekend now though. And probably have a 7 day workweek after that. And again after that.

Probably because OF gets a lot of their business through promoting on Reddit.

Serious answer: the Viking settlers named the land "Vinland" long before Columbus was even born. That name is of Germanic origin, same as the English language, and would be appropriate for settlers of Germanic origin (England, Germany, etc.)

Alternatively, a name in ~~the~~ a Native American language would be most appropriate given that they were the original inhabitants of the land.

"Ahh... Finally... I'm all alone..." I sobbed quietly to myself as I sat in my bedroom at midnight.

!"No you're not," he said from behind my closet door, "nobody will ever come between us again."!<

Note: if you accidentally do this, do not hang up. Calmly tell the operator it was ~~an accident~~ a mistake. Hanging up will send your info to them and they will call back to make sure there isn't an emergency.

"Oh, then this isn't what I thought I voted for."

It's exactly what you thought you voted for. (They wouldn't admit that they're wrong though)

Looks like my grandparent's ceiling.

I heard Metal Gear is a pretty solid game.

As a kid, I got my Dad to take me to Funcoland to trade in my Sega Genesis to buy Super Smash Bros for the N64. I kinda regret getting rid of it, but I played the heck out of Smash, and my Dad probably would have pawned it when I got older anyway, but I still missed my old Genesis. So I started looking to replace it.

I found a decently priced Genesis on eBay that came with a bundle of sports games I might never play, as well as a CIB copy of Sonic 2 at my local game shop. I ordered Road Rash 2 on eBay when I saw it was less than the market price. There's still a few more games to collect to rebuild my childhood library (even though some were just memorable rentals). I still need:

  • Sonic collection
  • True Lies
  • Road Rash 1 and 3
  • Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
  • Rocket Knight
  • Rock 'N Roll Racing

What other not-too-expensive games should I get?

Bonus pictures of a couple games on my old CRT for the best OG experience:

Most people are over-charging for old, worn-out TVs on places like Craigslist and Ebay, now that people are realizing how much better they are for retro gaming. I saw this one for $25 and had to check it out.

I had to clean up the corrosion in the remote to be able to change to the AV input, but it works well enough. Threw it on the kitchen counter to test it out.
