There was a user on the subreddit that was willing to at least try setting up an instance. Problem is our community is huge, and apparently we were rivaling r/videos in user engagement on reddit, which means it would probably be somewhat complex to set up an instance of our own. It would also be a whole different kind of moderation for the mods, because it would be moderating a whole server and not just a single community.

I'm still waiting to see what the mods end up doing, but at least we have a small spot claimed here for now.

I'm on a 3 year old account. Made it way back when this was still only dev.lemmy.ml and there was no federation.

I have mostly been sitting on the account, lurking occasionally, waiting for something like this to happen. Glad people are finally moving away from reddit

*edit: can't count

Best of luck to you! It was the most difficult thing in my life to do, to come out to my family. You got this <3

I'm going to a local pride event in a couple weeks and a bigger event next month. I know a lot of folks are anxious to attend large pride events right now, and that's totally understandable, but I'll be happy to go draped in my trans flag and represent my community! I also wear my pride pins on my uniform at work all month and remind all my customers that I am in fact queer as hell thank you very much. I've only been out a few years so Pride means a lot to me :)

I think it would actually be pretty long and painful :(

OBS is the one that gets me. A lot of streamers I follow talk about how they use OBS because it's such a reliable standard and works the way they expect. Pretty cool that an open source app is the standard for something as mainstream as livestreaming.

I also lurk a whole lot and thats my biggest issue as well. It looks like a lot of people talk about Lemmy when the topic of migrating from reddit comes up though, im hopeful that it takes off.
