Huh I guess that makes sense... Little acid to remove the oxidation.

I like the look of Cu lights and I have owned one, but I am just not careful enough with them to keep them looking the way I want. I know I know patina and all that but after a year my copper light was just kinda meh and dirty looking.

It's not necessarily the predator thing that scares them away. The most important part is breaking up the reflection on the outside. The anit-collision stickers will work well for this. Look on amazon or at a local hardware store, they come in many patterns and shapes, just pick one that you like. You can also hang a couple old CD's in front of your windows from fishing line. People do that where I'm at to scare off woodpeckers from their house and it should work for other birds too.

Great video. I liked how he connected it to other footprint bases folklore. I also thought it was funny the presenter did not look like a history nerd haha

What is the use of that weird funnel shaped contraption?

Huh very interesting. Its cool that there is such highly specialized CAD software for this craft.

Very cool, glad you had someone to teach you this amazing art form. And thanks for sharing your creations with us all. Are there low value gems that you practice on before cutting more expensive ones? In your post you talked about refractive index of the gem itself, does that really vary between gem types enough to make certain gems react different to certain designs?

This does look like an actual eyeball. I could see this as an eye for some kind of D&D style construct. Very cool!

This is such an interesting and weird hobby to have. Thanks for taking the time to write up this explanation. I've always wondered how this was done. How did you get into cutting stones as a hobby? It seems like the barrier to entry is incredibly high.
