That's a whole lot of quality connections there; nice work

An old character actor who became somewhat relevant again when Family Guy referenced him and he voiced his own character, but then he turned out to be a racist piece of shit.

the lack of meaningful decision points.

Again, that's part of the point.

I mean, he's not wrong. 90% of the time I hear someone wax poetic about how amazing math is, they haven't the faintest clue what they're talking about.

Scientists and mathematicians appreciate the beauty of the universe, too, but it's more in the "we are tiny bits of matter trying to understand the vastness of the cosmos" sense (at least in my experience as a chemist who loves talking about this shit with my microbiologist and mathematician friends)

Depends on which continent you're taking about. In the US, sure, the music of the Ramones is much more widely known, and while the Smiths are known, their influence is much more along the lines of "your favorite band's favorite band."

In the UK (and I'm guessing in continental Europe as well), those positions are reversed (IME as an American who listens to a fair bit of British post-punk and reads a lot of music journalism/criticism).

Religion, to me, is no more than parables that teach ~~good~~ questionable morals.

Ftfy.

Oh shit, they finally released a full album? How did I miss that‽

I think most people tend to regard Morrowind as peak Bethesda/Elder Scrolls. At least I do.

It's people like you that get me outta bed in the morning

That's fair. I'd say it's easier on the GM, but asks more of the other players

edit: Plus, there are free digital tools for doing that planning that that are super robust and easy to use. I find myself using Pathbuilder to plan out characters I know I'll never have a chance to play.

Like Ween, the White Stripes is a rock duo where both members of the duo share the same surname (on stage)

This song also incorporates scenes from a Japanese animated sci-fi series, and the video is also from the 90's (and it's now stuck in my head for the foreseeable future)

3, 2, 1, let's go...for a rewatch

Jane, Jane, Jane...Everything's always about Jane!

The thumbnail of the previous post and the name of the song both heavily reminded me of Surrealistic Pillow, the Jefferson Airplane album that has "White Rabbit."

Like the previous group, Calexico is heavily influenced by the American Southwest.

Not a direct connection, but Iron Reagan's sound heavily reminded me of the Cancer Bats, so I linked one of my favorite covers of all time (complete with a great homage music video)

La Roux - In For the Kill -> The Kills - Fuck the People

Radiation in the title of the Massive Attack song to the repeated lyric "Nuclear warhead ready to strike" from the Electric Wizard song.

Plus neither band is as popular as they should be.

"Heat" to "Heat," get it? Also, I didn't know this when I posted, but both songs were released in 1968

God Smack to Godsmack seems pretty self-evident

Our Raw Heart by YOB (2018) on the left and Grief's Infernal Flower by Windhand (2015).

For those that haven't heard these bands, they are both are fantastic stoner/doom releases, but within those subgenres, they couldn't be more different, IMHO.

YOB is more proggy and sludgy with some fairly mellow melodic songs and very deep, introspective lyrics. They are known for having pretty long songs, even by stoner/doom standards, with 10 songs over the 10 minute mark on their last three albums. Adrift in the Ocean and Beauty in Falling Leaves are both pretty good entry points.

Windhand is slow and heavy as fuck, with a pretty psychedelic sound and dreamy, reverby, clean female vocals, which I've heard called doomgaze. Frankly, there's not a bad entry point, but Grey Garden and Forest Clouds were two of the first songs that got me into doom in the first place

Time for some epic, doomed Mork Borg TPK's.
