Completely unrelated but brussel sprouts have been bred to be less bitter than you're used too. Not terrible raw, but so good fried in butter.

This is a great piece of advice thanks for sharing it!

I've tried the CGI frames before but none of them look like real glass to me. I do have a big head though so that's probably a part of it.

For real though, don't ask if I like the new frames I'm trying on. How am I supposed to know? I'm not wearing my glasses

You should take another look at what the CPC is focusing on. At their convention this month they voted on what to focus on as a party; two anti-trans policies passed the policy for affordable housing did not. Is the CPC as far right as the US Republican party, no they're not, but Poilievre is happy to court people who are. Also he won't answer non-vetted questions which is a different issue but still rubs me the wrong way.

I mean you can talk to the people you elect, it just doesn't do anything. I talked to my MPP just the other day about if he would support back to work legislation for teachers, they've been working for over a year without a contract and all he would say about is "we're trying to keep students in the classroom". He never did give me a straight answer about it.

Maybe I've missed it but has Poilievre proposed anything for a housing or inflation fix? Most of what I've seen has just been platitudes about how Canadians are hurting and Trudeau is to blame. Obviously not untrue, people are suffering and Trudeau hasn't done enough but saying that is not a solution.

Or I missed his proposals; I try not to get too focused on candidates this far before an election.

Completely agree higher salaries and less bureaucratic breathing over the shoulder attracts better teachers out of the public system and into private schools where only the privileged have access. But frankly who can blame them; here in Ontario the teachers spend more time without a contract than with one and our government tried making it illegal for education workers to strike last year. Wouldn't surprise me if they tried the same thing when there's a strike next month.

Thanks for the tip! I had heard of Montessori schools before but only in the context of fancy private schools. In the ~5 minutes of top level reading there are some really interesting ideas there, it's definitely something I'll be looking further into. A couple of friends have been lamenting the state of public schools here (Ontario, Canada) so alternate learning styles have been top of mind for me.

An interesting read, I think most of us agree that modern schooling isn't really working for a lot of kids. If interest and real world focused education is going to work though it would need to be a community project rather than individual works. So much of early education is the social skill building and basics about the world that at least at first I think it would need to be fairly structured/standardized (sharing, courtesy, basic reading/math, etc.) Does anyone know if this sort of is being or has been tried on any large scale?
