We know an issue occurred on the site over an hour ago with someone using my account to redirect the site, make fake posts, and change other settings. The problem has been corrected.

We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed.

Thanks for spreading the word. No one has claimed any of the community names so we’ll be running a script to purge the inactive ones. They had more than 300, so I’m glad I don’t have to remove them manually.

The Kombuchawow account has been banned for community squatting and being inactive.

If there is no activity in a community, it will be purged so that others can use the name.

If you would like to claim one of the communities, please reply to this comment.

The Elon_Musk account has been banned for community squatting and being inactive for almost two weeks.

If there is no activity in a community, it will be purged so that others can use the name.

If you would like to claim one of the communities, please reply to this comment.

I've sent you a message regarding the Scotland community. Overall, the team is working on standards for creating communities. Creating dozens to then "squat" will be addressed.

Apologies. I didn’t realize that was occurring.

A big thank you to everyone that volunteered.

We have enough moderators to help support the games community. Thank You!

Original Post: Hello everyone. We’re looking for some volunteers to help moderate the Games community.

Requirements:

  1. A love for games.
  2. Ability to help address reported community issues.
  3. Review post and comments to ensure no violations of the community rules. (We don’t expect you to read each comment word for word. Just checking the site 2 - 3 times a day for a few minutes at minimum.)

If you would like to help out, please let us know. Respond to this post or message me if you’re interested in moderating.

Hello everyone. This is Michelle, one of the Lemmy.world Admins/Moderators.

I want to let you know that if you are reporting a post/comment from a community moderator, please message me and let me know your concern. Especially if it relates to the violation of server rules for hate speech, racism, threats, or calls to violence.

If it’s a Lemmy.world community, they can resolve the report before we have a chance to see it. So please let me know if no action is being taken.

If the community is on another instance, we can see the reports you submit. We can ban and remove the posts/comments from our side.

We have zero tolerance for homophobia, racism, hate speech, bullying, child pornography, and many others that are listed under our server rules.

The moderation tools we currently have are not very robust, but I hope this helps clarify what can be done to escalate issues.

Thank you for responding. We already have another volunteer from the US and are now looking for someone in Europe or Asia. I will add your name to the list, as we may need one or two more moderators within the next month or two.

The time commitment would not be more than checking the community at least 3 times daily and helping to respond to reported violations.

Thanks to everyone that responded to fill the second moderator spot outside the US. I received more than a dozen messages and will respond back to each one within the next 24 hrs to either add you to a future community moderators list or schedule a quick onboarding to get you started.

We are already getting close to 3K, so I may select more than two moderators.

Again thank you.

Update # 1:
A big thank you to everyone that's volunteered. We have one more spot open for anyone in a different time zone other than the US. We're looking for anyone in Europe or Asia willing to volunteer. Again thanks!

*Hello everyone. I can’t believe the growth we’ve had not only on Lemmy.world, but in our Apple community. More than 2k in just a few days.

With the growth, I’m asking for volunteers to help moderate the community. If you’re interested, let me know. I’m looking for two community moderators in different time zones.

We already have a great community with active discussions and posts. Let’s keep it up. Again, thank you to everyone that’s joined and welcome!*

If true, I’m not surprised since they released FC Pro on the iPad. Since the Vision Pro uses the same M2 chip as the iPad Pro, it makes sense.

I’m always amazed at the continuous improvements we get yearly from Apple silicon. I just wish the Mac Studio with the M2 Ultra didn’t cost $5k (the way I would want it configured).

With the update to the Mac Pro, the entire lineup runs on Apple silicon. Will anyone miss the Intel days? Is anyone planning on getting the new 15" MacBook Air or the Mac Studio?

See how I didn't mention the Mac Pro. I have my reasons.
