I have a good experience with Memmy ([email protected]). The developers release an update every day.
Mereo
It has to be a virtuous circle. People stay -> people posting good content-> attracts new users -> post new contents -> get interesting so people stay...
In my opinion, good. Facebook and Instagram silo people into echo Chambers.
The problem with North America is that it is closed to trying new things because it believes that its way of doing things is better than the rest of the world.
For example, roundabouts could help with traffic flow and reduce accidents, as they have been proven to do in the rest of the world. But unfortunately, North American drivers are absolutely terrified of them, so cities will not implement them.
That feature is essential in my opinion. I'm surprised kbin doesn't have that feature.
Nothing is immoral when you're capitalist platform wanting to make money.
Fediverse is the only platform that will offer freedom.
Unfortunately, Reddit is a business and not a community effort like Fediverse. Shareholders took them by the scruff the neck. Moderators were working for free and are unfortunately realizing that it never had their interests at heart.
In my case, my home is Lemmy/Kbin, but I will still visit some subreddits on my browser using an adblocker, namely my city subreddit.
My Lemmy city community is still small to be useful.
Unfortunately, the majority will not care. Reddit's app ranks first in iOS' app store after Twitter. This is what Reddit wants, people to stop using third-party apps so that they can easily target ads to users.
For sure. I wil still visit a few subreddits, namely my city one, as it is one of the place that I can know the little scoop of what's happening.
But as for having a serious discussions in various topics, Fediverse all the way.
Reddit's situation is now mentionned on the NYTIMES. That means it made it. May the fall continues.
