Document document document. I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to put together something that further demonstrates the need to eliminate entire lines of laptops and replace them with something that will last. Think hardware repair costs, maintenance man hours and productivity, and what finally nailed the coffin for my teams, the dropping of Windows 10 and Windows 11 support. Windows 11 is going to require laptops have certain hardware features for full support. Microsoft’s planned obsolescence may actually come in handy for you. You might still have to go with something cheaper than Thinkpads, but maybe you could get more people upgraded. The CEO may just not know what is “critical” yet.

It’s gotten worse, however, I think the perception is compounded by how expensive it is now and also just eating better as I get older. Now that I know how to cook real, delicious food, fast food just seems so much grosser than it used to. It’s a little worse compared to 10 years ago, but much worse compared to the 80’s and early 90’s, depending on the chain. For example, Taco Bell was a LOT better back in the 80’s. You were more likely spend a bunch of time on the toilet later, but hey, give a little take a little.

Becoming a default to have it installed in Windows. On a personal machine, it’s easy to fix. In our work environment, we just made sure it’s on the image by default. You can also circumvent a windows store block by installing appx stuff in Powershell.

It was a struggle between the middle class and the upper class. The upper class, once again, tricked the lower class into supporting them. The middle class has lost, and now its power will be dismantled as much as possible. The lower class, as usual, will not benefit much from either scenario. This is why their vote was easy to sway. They really didn’t have a horse in the race, but now the gap widens. I hate typing this out and it makes me feel gross, but this is what’s happening.

The first rule of any technology used in a business is that automation applied to an efficient operation will magnify the efficiency. The second is that automation applied to an inefficient operation will magnify the inefficiency.

Have you run that by them? If you become a resident of another country, they may have payroll restrictions that prevent them from paying you.

Yeah, it all still depends on how close you are to the fiber, whether pushed over twisted-pair or coax. In some areas, for digital over twisted-pair, it may even still depend on how close you are to a central office. It varies wildly across the country.

I support people who work from home all over the country. People in the boonies are using mobile data and satellite. Those who aren’t suffer terrible DSL connections.

I have coax, and 2 gigabit is an option for me because the fiber Xfinity uses runs right along my neighborhood.

#WhenTaken #249 (02.11.2024)

I scored 838/1000 🎉

1️⃣ 📍 518 km - 🗓️ 5 yrs - ⚡ 179 / 200
2️⃣ 📍 1341 km - 🗓️ 11 yrs - ⚡ 145 / 200
3️⃣ 📍 301 km - 🗓️ 1 yrs - ⚡ 189 / 200
4️⃣ 📍 918.8 metres - 🗓️ 23 yrs - ⚡ 143 / 200
5️⃣ 📍 4 km - 🗓️ 11 yrs - ⚡ 182 / 200

I misidentified the language on the signs in that second one.

I’m not sure you know what integrity is, as it looks like you missed the point. I’m not saying Harris has a permanent halo affixed over her head, however, the utter lack of integrity in the other candidate is blatant and extreme. That’s not unimportant, and it’s a frightening indicator for those that actually are citizens of this country. People actually identify with that guy, and I believe this is why. They are lacking in integrity and therefore are unable to identify others who are or are not lacking in it. To them, people with actual integrity are frauds or merely pretending to have integrity. Because nobody would really be like that, right?

The truth is that’s there’s a sharp dichotomy in American society between those that value integrity and those that do not. It can be seen if you interact with the general public or if you simply have children that you’re trying to raise. Why this is is a very complicated subject, and goes back further than I think we Americans are willing to admit.

I worked for Subway back in ‘99 when I was in high school. We took pride in it back then, as well. Now, the pictures still didn’t match the product back then. The steak was a relatively new product back then, and I do remember the photos being sort-of like this one: All the meat pushed toward the camera. But nobody cared. You got to watch that shit being made right in front of you. It was always status quo as far as I can remember that pictures never matched what you got at a fast food place. BUT, if you did a good job, you’d sometimes learn just how happy somebody was to get a sandwich EXACTLY the fucking way they wanted it to be.

That’s not to say there’s not something very wrong there and that a line shouldn’t be drawn, though. They’ve gotten away with it for far too long, I think. In fact, I don’t think it was ever this extreme in the manipulation. Yeah, I’m going to actually side with you on this one and say that they definitely went too far in the image manipulation department. Expectations are everything, and I would actually hate to work at Subway now if this is what people’s expectations are set at. You would probably almost never get that stoked customer that got an exactly what they wanted. In a customer service field, that’s basically a death rattle.
