I prefer Fedora but OpenSUSE is a great distro too, rolling releases just tend to need a little more troubleshooting and I really like the middleground.
I tried to change some more advanced setting together with a fairly technical friend on his Windows 10 Laptop recently and it was a fucking nightmare!
Yes but it's on F-Droid so you can just use that too, multiple F-Droid clients have no issue coexisting on one device, I actually had both on mine for a very long time because I didn't care to uninstall one till I cleaned up again. ;)

Most hardware works flawless in Linux, usually the worse thing that can happen is a propriatary Wifi or Bluetooth module but those are usually really easy to replace. Power managment isn't the absolut best tho so you will probably have a little bit less battery life over all.
If you need Microsoft Office on Linux I recommend the web version of 360 and if you want to pirate it on Linux I would go for a VM, it's not the best experiebce in Wine from what I have heared.
