Security cameras are in fact very vital aspects of a security theater. Sure they won’t stop someone from breaking in, but they’ll definitely allow one to monitor much larger areas than would otherwise be possible.

The caveat is they can’t be ignored and need to be monitored. And given how dumb the ship’s computer is….well. Probably should assign a Vulcan flunky.

Would you wanna look out and see a wasteland of trash, dirt and stuff?

Also…. Boobies.

I might be tempted to try turning on 'fuzzy skin' printing above a layer height, for Prusaslicer, if you have a fairly large gap and wide skin thickness it can create an almost-open-weave to it. I used that for some grow baskets for aeroponic racks as well as a lamp shade. The trick there is to print in spiral mode as well.

but I think given the bottom profile, it would have to be done in separate parts- a cylinder for the actual filter, and a cap on either end. ( you can also turn on a skirt for adhesion, which is also useful as a flange for securing it into a cap. basically, there's a recess that it fits in, then a threaded ring screws into that recess.)

edit: here's a screen grab of a quick mock up in prusa.... using a calibration cube (20x20x50mm) using a layer height change to turn off perimeters, infill and turn on fuzzy skin with a point-distance of .6 and a tickness of 1mm. (default .4mm nozzle. yes, that makes a difference on the skin.) It creates a realtively 'open' structure where the layers intersect somewhat randomly while jogging back and forth (think of it as being like a wicker basket,)

it's important to remember when replicating things that they don't have to be necessarily exactly what your replacing. really it just needs to fit in the same space and do the same job.

Secondly, I’d say that as plans to get the US to not escalate with Russia go, a preemptive nuclear strike against the UK and France probably is going to be pretty counterproductive.

I love how dry and understated this comment is. Also, I'm pretty sure if russia decides an overt attack on the US, Biden can simply not hand over powers to avoid confusion. I don't think Biden would do that because if he had enough of a spine to do that, Trump would have already been in jail. Details.

Yeah. Used to be deep into fundie-land myself.

Hindsight… all those depictions of heaven sounds like torture. Like, there would be nothing better to do except go to worship services and listen to hillsong 24/7.

First, the book of revelation was written for a specific audience- that particular audience were contemporary/living Christian’s when it was written and would have been understood to be referring to Nero- who at the time was persecuting Christian’s and blaming them on all the shit that was happening in Rome.

Secondly, the timeline is somewhat unclear even if you take it as prophetic and literal. Depending on who you talk to the resurrection comes before, during, or after the tribulations. (Pre trib, Mid trib, and post trib)

My personal favorite is the Any-Trib camp (that says it’s all of the options). Mostly because it’s their excuse to clear up that uncertainty in ordering, they just suggest it’s not a singular event.

(And are most certainly ignoring that it’s always a singular event.)

These are the kind of nonsensical arguments that pop up because you refuse to accept that the scriptures aren’t entirely literal or meant to be and instead absolutely must both be cohesive (aka consistent,) and correct…. And are literal prophecy.

Remember that to the original audience, this isn’t prophecy, but political-discourse-as-allegory…. Because open criticism would get you killed.

I think Bagel needs a little cream cheese... (I have no idea what that means in relation to a seal...but... bagel needs some love, okay?)

Everyone needs a teddy!

We’re talking about an organization that refuses to retrofit their ships with seatbelts despite who-knows-how-many crew members dying every week from getting tossed out of their chairs in a fight or when anything unexpected happens.

Also… surge protection… just saying.
