Seemed pretty busy. I won't know actual numbers until I run my reports today.

As a retail manager it was business as usual, except an extra amount of Trump supporters being extra vocal about why they came out to 'stick it to the libs'. We actually did more business that day than we did the prior year.

A one day event isn't a boycott of you just give the same people the money the next day. If you want to make a difference, you have to make bigger waves. Stop shopping at Walmart forever. Don't buy another Nestle product. Cancel your Amazon prime and start buying local.

They can be very exclusive. I've seen first hand many gay men absolutely hate on people in the trans community. In my experience if you don't fit into one of their pre-assigned roles then you aren't welcome. Also, those of us that don't make our sexuality a primary part of our personality are often dismissed as 'others'.

Tribalism comes in many forms.

Little known facts:

  • Having 9 inches is considered 'being hung'.

  • Jesus was crucified by 'being hung from 9' inch nails.

  • Nine inch nails brings you 'closer to god'.

  • This is also why cats have 9 lives.

I hadn't even considered that. I guess I've been lucky with all of my past trades? I did some looking at information and studies from several universities.

I'll probably still trade because most of it can be treated. I know I save and offer good seeds, but I'll likely check any seeds I get or treat them to be sure.

If anyone else is interested, here is a link to a PDF that had some of the better information on treating seeds.

Make sure to avoid the 'easter eggers' man. Those ones are laid by rabbits!

I hesitate because I'm not sure I have the time or dedication to moderate one.

Also, there are so many communities that are inactive, I feel like it might just be yet another empty one. I'd rather see more engagement in places like this that could really use the additional traffic.

The only reason I didn't just start a post to do so is that I'm not sure it'd be allowed or if maybe there's already people doing this somewhere else. I don't want to take focus away from them either.

If there's enough interest here I would totally create a new post with guidelines to help people connect. Also, this requires trading personal information somehow and that can get weird. I'm not worried about it, but I expect other people would be.

I have Cardoon, and Sorrel seeds this year. Grown in the PNW (Puget Sound area). Will be looking to trade for anything that might grow here since I moved and have a new garden and lost my seed vault.

Seed trading? (self.gardening)

I was a participant in the 'other site' when there was an active seed trading sub. Is there a Lemmy equivalent or is that something we could do in this group?

Make enough money selling seedlings to offset the cost of my new seed starting setup.

Preserve at least half my harvest.

They aren't typos if you're uneducated, that would indicate they made a simple mistake. Those people are just that way.

Good on ya. Hopefully we can get others to start doing the same. It's really not that hard once you get started.

My concern is that dumb stunts like this will actually make it harder. I doubt they are just going to change it back. More likely they'll just stop taking feedback if it's truly making things difficult for them.
