I believe the impact was mostly to do with the visuals. And, honestly, that is very fair. While it is inctedibly dull and cringe story-wise, the visuals are phenominal, especially since the movie is now already 15 years old.

I feel the same way about Jurassic Park in that sense, though it is much less cringe than Avatar (but still pretty basic story-wise).

Not to mention the fact that they had to climb some very steep stairs and Gollum went first. Poor hobbits...

It certainly has downsides in that regard, I will not deny that. However, if you want something that Just Works™, it is a very good option in my (admittedly limited) experience.

To add, if OP is looking to use the laptop for gaming, I can recommend Bazzite. Built upon fedora with some quality of life things and very stable as it's immutable. Very hard to fuck up.

Also, for those interested in more mature movies: Juror #2. I had good expectations and was not disappointed. At least, not by the movie. There were only a handful of people in an already small cinema room, only a week after release. Meanwhile, Gladiator II is drawing a lot of public.

While I love shitting on CEOs and business people as much as the next left-oriented person, this trend in the movie industry is very much, at least partially, at fault due to many of the consumers.

About as accidental as falling off the stairs in Russia

I am so fucking sorry you are in this shit and I wish you and your children good luck going forward. Sadly it seems like you will need it.

This would especially be great if one could upload their photos but if you decide to include a few of your own please add a photo of trump.

Bonus if you make an easter egg where when you throw one tomato at trump it doesn't apply a tomato effect and instead changes to the picture of him being shot.

There was a time where I would have been happy to pay for it too, back when the ads were less intrusive. However, the number of ads increased drastically when they started pushing premium, and it's only gotten worse - not to mention the fact that, even though they make more money, the content creators (employees) are paid less per view. I don't mind paying for a product or service. I do mind paying to make an engineered inconvenience from a mega corporation that has a de facto monopoly go away.

I'm sorry if I'm pissing off any annoying orange fans with this particular comparison. However, one cannot deny that he is indeed an annoying orange.

Still a better love story than Twilight

Honestly it seems like a no-brainer to me to put a solar panel on the roof of electric cars to increase their action radius, so I figured there's probably one or more good reasons why they don't.

Also, I acknowledge that a quick google could answer the question, but with the current state of google I don't want to read AI bullshit. I want an actual answer, and I bet there will be some engineers eager to explain the issues.

It was a part of the Spudnik programme.

Hey everyone! Let's try to get some more activity in here. I was wondering what kind of rulers you have all created. I realize most medieval settings will probably have a monarch rule the lands, but this does not have to be the case. So, what kind of governing systems have you created in your worlds?

I'll start off as I am making the post. My players are in an archipelago divided into five inhabited sections. One of them excersizes a system I have dubbed "Elected Sacrificial Monarchy." Bit of a mouthful, but the principle is simple. The people elect a mostly absolute ruler who will rule for five years. They can be granted two additional years in a re-election if they are popular enough. When their term, extended or not, ends, they are beheaded in public after a new leader has been chosen. There are clauses that can give exceptions in dire cases (defensive war or some other disaster), but they are rarely invoked.

The principle of this is that only those who wish to better their nation and are prepared to pay the ultimate price to do it will put themselves forward as a candidate to rule. It is by no means a perfect system, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. So, what about all of you? Did you have any unique governments in your settings? Tell us about it :)

And, to set the record straight, I do enjoy pizza hawaii

Happened at our table a couple of months back.

Oh the irony of loving winter but disliking the associated holidays. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Title, basically. Enjoy trying to sniff your own snot!
