are you 4chan the hacker?

because you found it funny

You use mirrors, right?

I think they meant that as a joke. Obviously, even if someone had extraordinarily large breasts, they could just peek over them or move them to side.

rabbit starvation

FYI: For those that have never heard of the term:

Protein poisoning (also referred to colloquially as rabbit starvation, mal de caribou, or fat starvation) is an acute form of malnutrition caused by a diet deficient in fat and carbohydrates, where almost all bioavailable calories come from the protein in lean meat

if you’re like me you’d probably want to break your keyboard in half and shove it down your throat until you can’t see it anymore

Are you okay?

Edit: It's fine if the answer is "no".

Ah, that makes sense. I think part of the author's intention is possibly to help educate people that aren't familiar with autism on signs that someone might be autistic but doing a good job at masking it. So that when someone that has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder comes out to them, the other person doesn't invalidate the diagnosis, identity, or efforts the autistic person makes to function in normal society. I'm almost certain that the author of the video is not trying to help laypersons diagnose others (check out his channel if you're interested in looking into it further). While I think that the info in the video may help some individuals develop some possible insight into uncommon behaviors, I believe a legitimate ASD diagnosis can only be provided by a trained specialist.

That sounds exhausting and invalidating. I am interested in hearing what you think about the video once you watch it.

You're welcome, and thank you too!

I think I'm having trouble understanding your statement. Can you explain how this video results in everything and everyone in culture and media being about autism?

I just tested it with a post of my own in this community, and couldn't do it at first. I had go to my settings and make sure that the language I wanted was selected in the Languages setting. Once I changed that, saved it, I Was able to refresh the post and edit it to reflect the correct language.

Sorry for such a hassle! This is the first post we've had that wasn't in English, so it's also serving as the test one.

We know that we behave and think differently. We generally have more difficulty with social situation and are hypersensitive to sensory input. But to me, these seem like impacts of a fundamental difference. For example, we have social difficulties in NT environments because something with our neurotype is different. What is that fundamental difference that manifests into the symptoms of autism?

So far, my best guess is that we don't have the filter that NTs have with sensory input. They can decide what sensory information to focus on, allowing them to process information they see as important in real time. Additionally, they seem to be better able to multitask. For us, since we don't have that filter and multi-core processor, it takes us longer to process sensory input.

The other thing is that since we are more sensitive to sensory stimuli, we can get overwhelmed much easier, which limits our ability to process the info.

These two together make it so that social situations are difficult to navigate. There's wayy to much information to process in real time for us, so we end up missing a lot of the communication that is going on. For example, a person will send a nonverbal cue of some sort, but since we're still focused on what they said and processing all the other surrounding stimuli, we miss it. Maybe much later, when alone and reviewing the interaction or discussing it with a friend, we might finally get to the nonverbal cue and realize we missed it.

What do you guys think? Am I on track? Are there other fundamental differences between neurotypes?

I'm going to go see the eclipse next week, and I want to video tape myself doing something ridiculous. For example, I could enact some ancient spiritual ritual or play Total Eclipse of the Heart the whole time. I'm leaning more towards the ritual since I wouldn't be annoying everyone around me and would have time to engage in the totality. However, any other good ideas? Also, if the ritual is the route to go, any recommendations on what ritual?

I'm probably never going to have this opportunity again, so we gotta make it really good.

Feel free to elaborate on the topic!

Believe it or not, I used a mouse to create this.

I know not everyone of us has a special talent, but many of us do. Some are just incredible. So, what are they??

Edit: Please don't be humble. Let it out. Be proud of it and share so we can marvel.

If I have my browser maximized in my center monitor, whenever I go to search on Lemmy or go to my inbox and it is empty, the screen goes completely blank/black. It looks as if it lost power. If the browser is not maximized, it wont happen. This happens whether I use Chrome or Firefox. Any ideas on how to start troubleshooting?

  • OS: KDE Neon 6.0
  • KDE PLasma: 6.0.2 (happened with KDE 5.x too)
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
  • Monitor messing up in connnected to the HDMI port.
