Yes. However you can install a PWA (progressive web app) via chrome and firefox (perhaps other browsers but those are the ones I use). The PWA allows you to use lemmy when logged into your instance of choice and it acts like a mobile app. To install, go yo your instance in a browser, then check our options. For chrome, it says add to home screen. I believe firefox it says install app.
I like the chrome PWA, jerboa, and wefwef. Thunder is decent. Liftoff looks great but doesn't allow for all instances to join yet ( kmown bug). Haven't liked connect as much but trying to give them all a fair try. What I am really looking forward to is Sync.

I am currently enjoying wefwef, jerboa, and thunder the best. Liftoff is good, but not connecting with all instances (lemm.ee, etc). I have tried connect, not my style. Personally am waiting for Sync, was my favorite on reddit.

Delete your account and re-register. You can also have a display name, but your username will still show on other instance's posts.
The easiest way I have found is: go to a comment of theirs in your community, click the vertical 3 dots, it will show you options to add as mod. As for additional owners, not sure how to do that.
There's still a few bugs. I just reload that page and it seems to fix it most of the time. It seems to only happen on the internet browser/PWA. I don't seem to have that problem using apps, but those are full of their own bugs. I tend to hop between the different platforms for accessing lemmy. The devs for the fediverse instances and the apps are working relentlessly to improve user experience.
