also known as Koyaanisqatsi: Life Out of Balance, is a 1982 American experimental non-narrative film directed and produced by Godfrey Reggio with music composed by Philip Glass and cinematography by Ron Fricke.

It's dated, but this is legit one of the most emotional experiences I've had watching a movie

In fact, I feel like it's contributed to how I view the world

Beautiful film with incredible direction by Godfrey Reggio and a Philip Glass score.

Apart from this film and the 2 sequels, I don't think I've seen anything else that attempts this kind of direct visual poetry without plot or really an explicit message.

I see it as an environmentalist film but I guess you could as easily see it as a tribute to humanity's accomplishments.

I'm sure there must be other films like this... Can anyone suggest any!

Edited to say Reggio is the director, not the cinematographer.

One of the greatest films of all time. Amazing soundtrack as well. It puts our modern crises in perspective, juxtaposing the slow unfolding of being against the forces of calculative thinking.
