A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The best ones are thoughts that many people can relate to and they find something funny or interesting in regular stuff.

Have you tested this? Or are you just guessing what things would feel like, and assuming you're right without trying it?

im six months late, (forgot about lemmy) but i did test it, i looked at something i never touched that would probably be fine to lick, and licked it. Probably doesn't work all the time.

Oh thank God. I can finally sleep again! That scientific quandary was keeping me up at night.

I appreciate your dedication to science!

This might be the showerthought that's given me the most to think about ever. Can't stop thinking about licking my couch, for a start. Well played OP.

Because you've probably already touched most things with your hands.

Me desperately looking around the room for things to think about licking

The ability to extrapolate what something would taste/feel like from mere looks is a learned one.

Toddlers don't have it yet, which is why they're stuffing everything into their mouths.

You might not consciously remember licking a carpet, but the part of you that's holding up the "dusty", "textured" and "CRUMBS!!" signs does.

The 6 volt battery I licked once would like words.

isn't that a way to check if they still have charge in them?

You might be surprised. Investigation into Molyneux's Problem found that people born blind, who later had their sight restored, could not identify by sight the objects they already knew by touch.

I've seen plenty of jelly fish but I can't really fathom what it would feel like to lick one. Would it be smooth but spicy? Would it be prickly? Would it be slimy? IDK!

As a person who probably has a death wish as a kid, i can tell you they are smooth and jelly like.

Lollypops, they can be rough to the touch but smooth once you start licking it.
