Liked it better than last week's but... I dunno these last few just haven't been hitting the same way for me. Anyone else?
Rick and Morty
Wubbalubbadubdub!!!
Sames. It’s weird, but it’s moving towards an edgy “lolz I’m so random” type of energy. They're not shocking me like they used to - it feels like Rick has moved towards a natural conclusion to his story. He’s quite literally ascended into something like godhood by now; it’s very difficult to relate to Inspector Gadget Rick, I don’t have much in common with him anymore. I don’t feel sorry for him anymore.
There has to be a reckoning for what he did to Prime - until we get that resolution, and probably afterwards as well, I don’t like Rick. He’s not a good person, or a compelling antihero.
I really enjoyed the cold open of this episode with Jerry’s grandma being passive aggressive at the golden gates; I hope we get another big bad, someone who actually kicks Rick’s ass and poses a significant threat.
Let some other characters take the stage. Kill Rick and Morty off, or banish them outside the Curve for a couple of episodes - ever since Eyepatch Morty mentioned a multiverse of Summers seeking revenge I can’t stop thinking about how badass that would be. I want to see Summer team up with Space Beth and Bird Person, if the show structure is shifting towards a serialized format anyways they should just commit instead of dancing around from episode to episode.

Yeah, it's a weird spot. I think he's always been essentially a god figure with his only competition maybe being Prime Rick. Even when he's handicapped by lack of tech or something, you know he can build kind of whatever he needs. I can't even really envision a compelling opponent for him. Maybe evil Morty but he seems pretty chill. And we've done prime Rick.
Though, I still do feel sorry for him. The person he loved was murdered by a version of him. He's a sad broken man, albeit one that sort of seems to be trying to improve. (I love that he's still going to therapy.) I dunno, there's something beautifully tragic about someone essentially being a God but unable to find real joy.

Hmmm, I'm not entirely sure I agree. I imagine there will be some resolution (no Rick doesn't have contingencies) but Prime went through and murdered infinite versions of Rick's wife to prove a point, I don't know how you redeem that or resolve it other than the revenge and said revenge not feeling great.
They're definitely floundering now though, I'll say the spaghetti people was one of the most shocking and thought provoking episodes of the, hell, almost any show I've seen in years. (But goddamn, I hated the numbericons, kuato etc.)
I'm not sure what direction they ought to go for next. I dig space Beth and Summer but not sure if I love them enough for a full episode.
Tough spot for the show. But I hope they figure it out!
