Questions that are all encompassing like these are worthless because they don't get us any closer to the answer.
Showerthoughts
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. A showerthought should offer a unique perspective on an ordinary part of life.
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- Avoid politics
- 3.1) NEW RULE as of 5 Nov 2024, trying it out
- 3.2) Political posts often end up being circle jerks (not offering unique perspective) or enflaming (too much work for mods).
- 3.3) Try c/politicaldiscussion, volunteer as a mod here, or start your own community.
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct
Not asking these questions doesn't get us any closer to the answer either though?
If two things lead to the same result (in this example, neither asking the questions nor not asking the questions get us closer to the answer), then isn't the lesser effort option optimal?
I just don't agree that it "doesn't help".
It does help, at least it helped me.
shoutout to this 80s punk song asking the same question but with hugely different energy :P

You say we, but i think more in terms of me, since I can't affect anyone else.
As soon as I think we, I get depressed because I don't have the power to change anything about anyone else. But I can change me.
I'm pretty close to who I want to be.
