Sounds like someone is stirring the pot. If there was anything here we'd have more that one uncorroborated report to a single news outlet that amounts to "he said something he could have only known if he had FOM info". Okay, sure.

Let's impugn his and his wife's integrity over that.

You're very likely correct, but it seems to me the Wolff's (and I'm not judging their character here) have put themselves in a precarious position with their respective jobs.

Having a spouse who is disclosed to information you're not supposed to have is going to be extra challenging.
