Hamilton P18 after getting his best lap time deleted...

[โ€“] BowserDelta 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Gutting but really happy they're being so on it with track limits this weekend (saying this as a devout fan of Lewis)

[โ€“] Zinc 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Not a big fan of track limits, but at least they are quick and seemingly consistent with the deletions.

[โ€“] Thewheeeeeeeeeel 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Why? These should be the best drivers in the world. Its their job to keep the cars on the track

[โ€“] Zinc 2 points 2 years ago

Mostly because they have been so inconsistent before with the track limits where only some turn will have them and all others not. Sometimes they change them mid-race. I'd say all turns or none.

[โ€“] zav 6 points 2 years ago (4 children)

Still not a fan of this weekend structure as this will probably just be like qualifying yesterday anyways

[โ€“] Thewheeeeeeeeeel 3 points 2 years ago

Sprints just dont work in F1. In MotoGP the sprint is already for me the better product. But cars are just not made for sprint racing

[โ€“] ArtVandelay12 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Agreed. I had an open mind for the sprint format but I'm just not liking it so far

[โ€“] zav 1 points 2 years ago

They should replace it with something similar to how qualifying works in Formula E or a One-Lap shootout

[โ€“] Fingerthief 1 points 2 years ago

Already quite different.

[โ€“] iTipTurtles 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah not a fan either. I think itโ€™s a little better than last seasons sprint setup, but still fairly dogshit

[โ€“] Zinc 5 points 2 years ago

With the track drying up, timing the last lap (and stay inside track limits) will be extremely important.

[โ€“] baggyspandex 5 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Absolutely unacceptable from Ferrari already. If I wasnโ€™t so trained by the pain Iโ€™d punch a wall.

[โ€“] Thewheeeeeeeeeel 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They are through to SQ2...Still time to punch more holes

[โ€“] baggyspandex 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Itโ€™s takes a lot for me to get that mad with Ferrari nowadays. Itโ€™s too expected.

[โ€“] zav 2 points 2 years ago

More surprised by them getting something right than them fucking something up

The equivalent of rage quitting after messing up.

I don't understand haas, sometime they look very good at qualifying but rarely they materialise in the race. Hope they will one day be as good at race as they are at qualifying.

[โ€“] Thewheeeeeeeeeel 1 points 2 years ago

They just suck at tire management

[โ€“] TheYang 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (4 children)

Sorry, what is a "Sprint Shootout"?
Did I miss that in previous races or is this (one of) the first time this event is held?

Will only a subset of drivers get to attend the sprint race? But if so, couldn't the qualifying results be used for that?

[โ€“] in_potentia 2 points 2 years ago

The sprint is a new standalone race, on it some weekends this year. Qualifying for the race was yesterday, everything today is sprint. The shootout is open to everyone, it's qualifying for the sprint race later, which is 20 laps or 60 mins. Top eight I think? get extra points

[โ€“] Zinc 2 points 2 years ago

Qualifying to the sprint race later today. It's something new for this year. I think this is the second race week to feature this kind of qualifying.

[โ€“] regal 2 points 2 years ago

It's a shorter qualifying session for the sprint race later today. I think that's the main difference, there's also suppose to be some tire restrictions but they ditched that today because of the wet conditions.

[โ€“] zav 1 points 2 years ago

The weekend structure being tested this weekend looks like this:

Friday: Normal Qualifying for sunday's race Saturday morning: Sprint Shootout (Quali for Sprint) Saturday afternoon: Sprint (mini-race) Sunday: Race

So its basically a mini quali+race on saturday which... idk

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

Both Haas drivers in Q3

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago

An Russell doesn't set a time in Q2. Awful qualy for Mercedes

[โ€“] [email protected] 3 points 2 years ago

I was able to turn now, how is Ferrari going?

[โ€“] GiovaMC 2 points 2 years ago

When will they begin shooting each other? Just here for the shootout

[โ€“] yellowmnkey 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It was a good qualy or shootout whatever itโ€™s named

[โ€“] regal 2 points 2 years ago

I agree, I think the shorter sessions make it a lot more interesting

[โ€“] in_potentia 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

What will happen tomorrow if drivers repeatedly exceed limits? Penalties all round?

[โ€“] Thewheeeeeeeeeel 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yes? But since they arent pushing as much there will be way less penalties

[โ€“] in_potentia 1 points 2 years ago

That true, could still be interesting

[โ€“] R05 2 points 2 years ago

I really donโ€™t care about the sprint format. It doesnโ€™t add anything and just seems forced

[โ€“] dimspace 1 points 2 years ago

Sprint race finishing order having an impact on main race makes it worthwhile.

Sprint race as it stands is just pointless.

[โ€“] Fingerthief 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Hulk above the Ferraris lmao

[โ€“] zav 1 points 2 years ago

Hulk replacing Checonsoon

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

C'mon C'mon Charles...

[โ€“] Zinc 1 points 2 years ago

Hulkenberg on second row. Wow!

[โ€“] baggyspandex 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What happened with that Haas in the box? Did it run something over?

[โ€“] Thewheeeeeeeeeel 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It ran over its own old rear tire
