To be fair I wouldn’t blame him for wanting to take a break for a bit after developing Apollo for so long. Would have to be so frustrating and sad to have a project you work so hard on torn from you.

Indeed - if something similar happened to me I’d loose hope on humanity. He immensely popularized Reddit on iOS and spez and Reddit admins treated him like POS.

Honestly, wefwef.app. Although a strange name is probably the closest thing I’ve found on Lemmy!

Memmy too scratches the Apollo itch for me. Extremely busy dev!

Found that Memmy scratched the Apollo itch best for me.

Memmy is OK.

But wefwef is an exact clone of Apollo…

[–] Kerandir 6 points 1 year ago

Really? I find it confusing in a way, wefwef is more clear to me in a sense. On Memmy I’m no t quite understanding if I’m seeing all the fediverse or only a portion. On wefwef I understand where I am more clearly

I’ve been using the TestFlight ‘Mlem’

Both wefwef and Mlem have good features the other doesn’t so I’ve been using both lol

He mentioned that he’s on Twitter and Mastodon in his farewell post. Maybe he’ll create a 3rd party app for one of those?

Didn’t Twitter already fuck over TPAs?

[–] kynshp 9 points 1 year ago

Yup, you’re right I wasn’t even thinking about that.

I'm actually surprised he hasn't addressed any comments asking him to do a Lemmy app.

[–] turquoise 32 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He has on occasion, especially early on.

He stated that he has no interest in doing so for now.

[–] crunchypotat77 10 points 1 year ago

Ah. I must've missed it. Sad.

Wefwef is amazing.

This is the first time I’ve felt Lemmy could be a viable replacement to Reddit for me.

[–] Reid 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Same, using it for the first time today and could easily get used to this!

[–] ccunning 7 points 1 year ago

Yes!

I now feel motivated to start contributing to Lemmy communities. This all feels viable for the first time.

Memmy is also a good option

Bean is by far the best Apollo-like client so far

[–] Jumper775 1 points 11 months ago

Where can I try it out?

[–] OutdoorDining 4 points 1 year ago

Using this right now

Fills my Apollo fix.

[–] Paulius 10 points 1 year ago

Apollo for Lemmy would be great. I’d definitely pay money for it. For now, I’m trying wefwef. I love it so far.

On a episode of The Talk Show, Christian said Lemmy and Kbin are too young and uncertain for him to invest this kind of work and dedication at this time. :~

Not sure he’s on here. I know he does use Mastodon which is part of the Fediverse.

[–] pupperino 2 points 1 year ago

I wonder if he’d be willing to open source it if he doesn’t want to change the backend to support Lemmy, Kbin, etc.
