There is a massive storm in the region right now and it was also going on yesterday. So a propably a lot of deaths from the weather rather then from fighting.
There were rumors that Russia would continue their push, once the frost arrived. They had to pause it due to mud that was practically impossible to get through.
But yes, if what we are told is true, that Russians are seriously under supplied on both Clothing food and water. Weather like what they had yesterday with freezing blizzards at Odessa, must cause serious casualties too.

Yes 1000 has not been uncommon for the past few weeks, but that's a clear escalation compared to earlier when numbers usually hovered around 500.
