Note that PPE gear is a one-time consumable while riot gear can be used many times before needing replacement.

Game here looking if so one got the same idea. Not a disappointment

Plenty of nurses wear PPE for weeks sad to say. Single use is certainly the intention, sure :).

It can be used until the first molotov hits it, at least.

Who the hell is paying $5 for a single n95 mask?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 7 months ago

And where can I get a riot shield for only 88 bucks? Apart from wish

[–] [email protected] 6 points 7 months ago

From what little I know of US health care, it would be the patient who has to pay 5$ for a single n95 mask.

It used to be that healthcare workers change ppe's every time they leave and then enter a new room. Now, they keep it for the whole day or week sometimes.

Yeah that's fuckin gross.

I have no idea what this means.

Did bullet-proof vests ever cost the same as a hospital gown?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 7 months ago

One of these things contributes significantly more to humanity, too.

One helps people, the other opresses. You can guess which is seen as more valuable by people with money...

An 89 dollar piece of plastic is not a riot shield .

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

How expensive does a piece of plastic need to be before it becomes a riot shield?

[–] TropicalDingdong 3 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (1 children)

$1500

Think of it like DOD pricing but for local police departments. My broader point is that both sides of this graphic have massively underestimated the true costs of both professions, largely due to corporate profit inflation and captured markets.

I mean hell, you can't even buy a decent bike helmet for $125, do you think they'll send police out in something less worthy than that?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Maybe that's part of OPs title/point?

Wow yeah look at that.
