Christian your app will be sorely missed. Deleting my account tonight and going all in on lemmy. It’s been a great run!

I'm not ashamed to admit that this is a significant moment in my life. It's the end of an era. It has had significant impacts on my habits.

Yep. For years I’d scroll Reddit during my off-time. Sitting on the bus or in the train, when taking a short break from work.

There was always something interesting to read, and now it’s ruined.

I hope Lemmy picks up but it takes years to build up such a large userbase.

Couldn’t have said it better……

[–] reverie 6 points 1 year ago

Agreed. It might sound dumb but I am experiencing a sort of grief right now

[–] Snowyman12334567890 50 points 1 year ago

It’s over

[–] helloharu 32 points 1 year ago

I’m also finding this.

RIP Apollo

Yes, 1000 times yes

[–] Ruby_Hoshino 20 points 1 year ago

The same thing is happening to me!

[–] TheBig2023Meltdown 18 points 1 year ago

Similar thing happened to Reddit sync, I get error 429 (too many requests). It's time to move over permanently to lemmy!

Rip 3PA's

I could not imagine to have this feeling about losing an app, truly sad. But we build something new here!

[–] chanunnaki 3 points 1 year ago

Yes. What we have got here is pretty sweet

[–] rivhi 9 points 1 year ago

Yep it’s done

[–] Steveanonymous 9 points 1 year ago

It will forever have its own page

[–] Boobski 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Same here /: unfortunately I didn’t get to download the wallpapers before it died which is kinda a bummer, but as a 12+ year Reddit user I’m still glad to have supported Christian one last time.

[–] aaronious 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

At least for me I can still open the app and go to settings where the option for the wallpapers is

[–] jcqzu 2 points 1 year ago

Looks like Christian manually revoked his token so the app opens now

For everyone missing Apollo, give wefwef a go! It feels just like Apollo but for Lemmy!

Memmy is also a great Apollo-like app for iOS. They say they’re hoping to launch it in the App Store today, but if you can’t wait here’s the TestFlight link: https://testflight.apple.com/join/6jaRU6rD

Wow, I saw this moment coming but couldn’t comprehend, that it’s really going to be over. And now the app ist just gone.

Thank you Christian!

Sounds like some tokens broke when Reddit pulled the plug. Still no access to content, but Christian has fixed the app itself in case anyone still wants to tip, refuse a refund, get the wallpapers, or download their data.

RIP Apollo. Thanks for making such a wonderful app

[–] theangryseal 2 points 1 year ago

Me too, just now noticed after reading this.

Damn.

What a bummer.

[–] KuroJ 2 points 1 year ago

Wow that’s really sad. It’s already gone 😞

[–] synth 2 points 1 year ago

I haven’t updated but it still crashes. Doesn’t crash if you open it with airplane mode on though. Still even if you get it open it’s dead. ;(

RIP was on Reddit for over 10 years and Apollo was a big reason why. Sad to see what it’s become now but excited for Lemmy to take off

Honestly wefwef feels a lot like Apollo and is making the transition a lot more bearable

[–] Calzoner 1 points 1 year ago

This sucks. Long term it may be a blessing that I get off Reddit, but man, feels bad. So many memories.

[–] Peedos101 1 points 1 year ago

Thanks for everything 🫶🏼👏🏼

All my comments are deleted as well as my account. RIP Apollo and fuck off, Reddit.

[–] IncredulousWanderer 1 points 1 year ago

I've been going into rif occasionally throughout the day expecting it to happen but also hoping it wouldn't. It's weird to care so much, but I do. I've had reddit for so many years, always there, so cuddly and comforting, when I just want to doom scroll through randomness.

I'm excited to try something new but also really nervous to break my reddit habit. Hi friends. I can't wait to see how we grow and develop this new chapter together!

Consider not getting a pro-rated refund from Christian if you see fit. If you got value out of the app, it's one last hurrah for Christian.

[–] Steveanonymous 1 points 1 year ago

Was a lifetime subscriber and the thought never crossed my mind. The experience was that good

[–] LemmyKnow 1 points 1 year ago

Sad to see Apollo go after using it for years.
